A species of large, rotund extraterrestrial creatures with gelatinous bodies that render them nearly impervious to physical attacks and energy blasts. The most famous Jiggler is Buyon, kept by General White in Muscle Tower, who became the first alien lifeform Goku ever encountered. Their weakness to cold temperatures is the key to defeating them.
Jigglers, also known as Buyons or Buyon-type aliens, are a non-sapient extraterrestrial species characterized by their massive, round bodies covered in elastic, gelatinous flesh. They are considerably larger than the average Earthling, with bodies that include antennae, long tongues, and thick tails. Their skin comes in various colors, with the original Buyon being pink, though green and other variants have been documented.
Their primary defensive ability is their Super Flexible Body. The rubbery composition of their flesh causes physical attacks and even energy blasts like the Kamehameha to simply bounce off harmlessly. They also possess offensive capabilities: an Antenna Beam that fires electricity from their head protrusions, a Lick Twister tongue grab used to snare prey for consumption, and powerful tail strikes. They are carnivorous, actively hunting and attempting to devour anything they perceive as food.
The first Jiggler encountered in Dragon Ball was Buyon, a specimen kept by General White on the secret fifth floor of Muscle Tower during the Red Ribbon Army Saga. In Age 750, General White dropped the young Goku and the defecting Android 8 into Buyon's lair as a death trap. The monster proved to be one of Goku's most puzzling early opponents. Neither punches, kicks, nor a direct Kamehameha had any effect on Buyon's elastic body.
When Buyon attempted to eat Android 8 with his tongue, Goku intervened and discovered the creature's fatal weakness entirely by accident. He punched a hole in the tower's exterior wall, letting the frigid arctic air rush into the chamber. The cold temperatures instantly froze Buyon solid, and a single punch from Goku shattered the frozen monster into pieces.
The Jigglers' story did not end with Buyon. Dragon Ball Online revealed that the species originated from another planet and was deliberately introduced to Earth by the Frieza Force during their attack in Age 820. The invaders brought Jigglers specifically to counter the martial artists defending the planet, reasoning that physical fighters would be helpless against their rubbery bodies. Goten and Trunks defeated these Jigglers by using swords, exploiting a second weakness alongside cold temperatures.
By Age 1000, Jigglers had become a common species on Earth, having established themselves in the wild after the invasion. Some populations even adapted to cold environments by developing a layer of fur on their bodies, eliminating their one known vulnerability and making them far more dangerous than their ancestors. This evolutionary adaptation demonstrates that despite being non-sapient, Jigglers possess a remarkable capacity to thrive and adapt across different planetary conditions.
