A dimensional barrier technique used by Pride Trooper Cocotte that creates a sealed-off pocket of space, trapping opponents or shielding the user from attack.
The Cocotte Zone creates a barrier of purple energy that functions as a miniature dimension, completely sealed off from the outside world. Anything trapped inside cannot be sensed by ki detection, similar to how the Hyperbolic Time Chamber blocks sensing from outside. The barrier is exceptionally durable because it exists on a slightly different dimensional plane, making conventional attacks largely ineffective against it.
Cocotte can use the technique in two ways: offensively, by expanding it around enemies to trap them inside, or defensively, by wrapping it tightly around herself as an impenetrable shield. The larger variant is called Cocotte Zone Max and covers a wider area, though it appears to have slightly less density than the compact personal shield.
Cocotte deploys her signature technique during the Tournament of Power as part of Universe 11's Pride Troopers. She uses the Cocotte Zone Max to trap several Universe 7 fighters, cutting them off from their teammates and preventing Goku from sensing their ki to assist them. The barrier proves strong enough that the trapped fighters struggle to break free through brute force alone.
However, Super Saiyan 2 Caulifla and Super Saiyan C-type Kale manage to blast their way out of the Cocotte Zone Max, demonstrating that sufficient power can overcome the dimensional seal. Cocotte responds by contracting her barrier into the smaller, denser personal shield variant.
The technique's critical weakness is revealed when Android 18 encounters Cocotte hiding inside her compact shield. While the barrier is virtually unbreakable from the inside, the user cannot attack while maintaining it. Android 18 simply picks up the entire barrier with Cocotte inside and throws it off the arena, eliminating her from the tournament. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best one.
The Cocotte Zone stands out among Dragon Ball defensive techniques because it does not rely on energy output to maintain its strength. Unlike energy barriers that can be overpowered by a sufficiently powerful attack, the Cocotte Zone's dimensional nature means it operates on fundamentally different principles. This makes it valuable even against opponents whose raw power vastly exceeds the user's own.
The technique draws comparisons to other dimensional abilities in the series, such as the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and the Work of the Gods used by Fused Zamasu. All three create spaces that are isolated from normal reality, blocking ki sensing and teleportation. Cocotte's unique contribution is making this concept portable and combat-ready.
