Krillin's iconic signature technique: a flat, razor-sharp disc of golden ki that can slice through almost anything, regardless of the target's power level.
The Destructo Disc is formed by raising one hand above the head and concentrating ki into a flat, spinning disc of golden energy. Once fully formed, the disc has an edge sharp enough to cut through virtually any substance or opponent, making it one of the most uniquely dangerous techniques in Dragon Ball. Unlike most energy attacks where damage correlates directly with the user's power level, the Destructo Disc's cutting ability can injure targets enormously stronger than the wielder.
This property is what makes the technique Krillin's most valuable combat tool. As a human fighter perpetually outclassed by Saiyans, Namekians, and cosmic tyrants, Krillin relies on the Destructo Disc as the one attack in his arsenal that scales regardless of the power gap. Only an opponent with a sufficiently powerful aura can deflect the disc's edge without being cut.
Krillin debuts the Destructo Disc against Nappa during the Saiyan invasion, but the elite warrior dodges thanks to Vegeta's warning, taking only a gash on his cheek. Krillin tries again against Great Ape Vegeta's tail, but Vegeta dodges that too. Ironically, Vegeta himself later uses the technique to cut off Great Ape Gohan's tail.
The Destructo Disc's greatest moment comes on Namek, where Krillin manages to slice off second-form Frieza's tail, a target that energy blasts from Vegeta and Gohan could not scratch. This perfectly demonstrates the technique's unique value: Krillin's power level is a fraction of Frieza's, yet the disc cuts through the tyrant's body without resistance.
Android 18 borrows the technique to expose Goten and Trunks hiding inside the Mighty Mask costume at the World Tournament. Goku uses it to bisect Super Buu. In the Dragon Ball Super manga, Krillin slices through Cell Max's wing during the Super Hero arc. The technique also spreads to villains: Cell, Frieza, and even Baby have all used some version of the energy disc.
Krillin has continuously refined the Destructo Disc over the decades. The Chain Destructo Disc added rapid-fire volume on Namek. In Dragon Ball Super, Krillin develops a homing variant inspired by Frieza's Death Saucer, and the Destructo Disc Triple Blade splits a single disc into three mid-flight for multi-angle attacks. Goku deploys a six-disc version called the Destructo Disc Hexa Blade against Jiren in the Tournament of Power.
The technique's evolution mirrors Krillin's arc as a martial artist. He cannot compete with Saiyans on raw power, so he innovates constantly, turning one good idea into an entire arsenal of disc-based techniques. It is the most human approach to combat in a series dominated by alien transformations and godlike power-ups, and that is exactly why fans love it.
