Galick Gun

Technique

Vegeta's original signature energy wave, first used during his Earth invasion. The attack nearly destroyed the planet in a legendary beam struggle against Goku's Kaio-ken Kamehameha, and remains part of Vegeta's arsenal throughout the entire series.

Vegeta's First Signature Move

To fire the Galick Gun, Vegeta curls his fingers and places both hands together at chest level, palms aligned in the same direction. He gathers a massive concentration of ki while holding this stance, then thrusts both hands forward while shouting the attack's name. The result is a colossal purple energy beam that erupts from his body with enough force to destroy a planet if sufficient power is channeled into it.

The technique occupies a special place in Vegeta's history as his first named attack in the series, introduced before the Big Bang Attack and Final Flash that would later become more associated with him. Its charging pose and purple coloration give it a visual identity distinct from Goku's Kamehameha.

The Beam Clash That Started It All

The Galick Gun's defining moment comes during Vegeta's first battle on Earth. After Goku's Kaio-ken Attack draws blood, the humiliated Saiyan Prince soars into the sky and declares he'll destroy the entire planet rather than accept defeat. He fires a full-power Earth Splitting Galick Gun directly at the surface.

Goku has no choice but to counter with a Kaio-ken x3 Kamehameha. The two beams collide in what becomes one of the most iconic energy clashes in anime history. For a terrifying moment, they're perfectly matched. Then Goku pushes his Kaio-ken to x4, overwhelms the Galick Gun, and sends Vegeta hurtling into the upper atmosphere.

Firing at Frieza and Getting Nothing

During the Namek Saga, Vegeta desperately fires a Galick Gun variant at Second Form Frieza, putting everything he has into the blast and generating a huge explosion. When the smoke clears, Frieza is standing completely unharmed, not even irritated. It's a devastating reality check that perfectly captures the power gap Vegeta was facing.

A Technique That Evolves With Vegeta

The Galick Gun keeps appearing throughout Dragon Ball Super and beyond. Vegeta uses it to cook an octopus at Bulma's birthday party (creating a firework effect in the process), fires a Furious Galick Gun at Beerus after snapping over Bulma being slapped, and deploys it tactically during the Tournament of Power to eliminate Prum and Dr. Rota simultaneously.

Future Trunks inherits the technique from his father, using it in Super Saiyan Rage form against Goku Black. He and Vegeta later combine their Galick Guns into the Father-Son Galick Gun against Fused Zamasu's Holy Wrath, creating one of the saga's most emotionally charged beam struggles. Cabba, the Universe 6 Saiyan, also demonstrates a similar technique called Galick Cannon, and the two Saiyans briefly clash their respective Galick attacks during the Tournament of Destroyers.

In Dragon Ball Daima, Vegeta fires the Galick Gun against Gomah in the Demon Realm, confirming the attack's continued relevance even in the series' latest chapter.
