Thunder Flash Attack

Technique

Pikkon's ultimate technique, taught to him by West Kai. A devastating storm of flames fired from crossed fists that requires complete stillness to perform, which is also its fatal weakness.

Fire from the Other World

The Thunder Flash Attack begins with Pikkon swaying his arms to generate a blue flame-like aura around his body. He then draws his hands to his sides, clenches them into fists, and crosses his arms over his chest. Finally, he brings both fists together in front of him and releases an enormous torrent of flames at the target. The resulting fiery explosion deals massive damage and is one of the most visually distinctive attacks in the filler arcs.

The technique demands intense focus from start to finish. Pikkon must maintain a stationary position throughout the entire sequence, which means he cannot dodge, block, or reposition while performing it. This requirement makes the Thunder Flash Attack extraordinarily powerful but also predictable for any opponent quick enough to exploit the opening.

Goku Finds the Flaw

During the Other World Tournament, Pikkon unleashes the Thunder Flash Attack repeatedly against Goku. The first few uses land hard, blasting Goku and injuring him. But after taking the hit several times, Goku realizes the critical weakness: Pikkon cannot move while performing the technique. Using Instant Transmission, Goku teleports out of the blast's path and appears directly beside the immobilized Pikkon, blasting him out of the ring with a Super Kamehameha.

This fight perfectly demonstrates the Dragon Ball principle that raw power is never enough on its own. The Thunder Flash Attack is overwhelmingly strong, but its rigid execution leaves Pikkon vulnerable to a fighter smart enough to identify the pattern. Goku does not overpower the technique; he simply sidesteps it.

A Filler Favorite

Despite appearing exclusively in filler content, the Thunder Flash Attack has earned lasting recognition in the Dragon Ball community. Pikkon himself is one of the most popular filler characters, and his fight with Goku in the Other World Tournament is frequently cited as one of the best filler episodes in all of Dragon Ball Z. The technique appears in numerous video games including Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and 3, Xenoverse 2, and Dokkan Battle, where it typically serves as Pikkon's ultimate attack. West Kai's role as its creator adds a fun detail: it means the Kais of the other quadrants have their own martial arts traditions beyond what North Kai teaches.
