Super Saiyan Berserk

Transformation

A corrupted variant of the Super Saiyan form where dark energy or extreme emotional instability pushes the transformation into an uncontrolled berserker state. Featured in Super Dragon Ball Heroes, this form represents what happens when a Saiyan's transformation is tainted by external malevolent forces or when their own inner darkness overwhelms their ability to control the Super Saiyan energy.

Corruption and Loss of Control

Super Saiyan Berserk occurs when external dark energy interferes with a Saiyan's transformation process. In Super Dragon Ball Heroes, this can happen through exposure to corrupted Dragon Balls, manipulation by dark-aligned villains, or absorption of malevolent energy sources. The dark energy hijacks the Super Saiyan transformation, amplifying its power while stripping away the user's conscious control.

The result is a fighter who is significantly more powerful than they would be in a standard Super Saiyan state but who cannot direct that power intelligently. They operate on pure instinct and aggression, launching devastating attacks without strategy or restraint. Allies become targets just as readily as enemies.

Visual Corruption

The form's visual design communicates its corrupted nature through subtle deviations from standard Super Saiyan. The golden aura is tinged with darker energy, occasionally flickering with red or purple undertones. The eyes lose their sharp teal coloring, becoming blank or reddish. The overall impression is of a Super Saiyan form that has been contaminated, retaining the general shape but losing the clarity that comes with controlled transformation.

Notable Appearances

In the Super Dragon Ball Heroes anime and game, Berserk Super Saiyan has been used by multiple characters as a plot device to create scenarios where normally heroic fighters become threats to their allies. The form creates narrative tension because the heroes must find a way to either purify the corrupted Saiyan or contain their rampaging power without seriously harming them.

The concept draws from a long tradition in Dragon Ball of transformations that sacrifice control for power. From the original Great Ape to the Legendary Super Saiyan, the franchise has consistently explored the tension between raw strength and the discipline needed to wield it effectively. Super Saiyan Berserk is the most explicit expression of that theme applied directly to the standard Super Saiyan form.
