Chapter 377

Outnumbered and outgunned, the heroes only ever had one path to victory: split the villains apart and take them piecemeal. The tempest rising over the battlefield ends that. At U.A., Eraser Head turns to see Kurogiri and Present Mic step out of a warp gate, and a second portal follows, spilling Twice Doubles onto them.

The swarm shoves Eraser Head and Manual clear and drops Phantom Thief, whose eyes close, and Erasure dies with them. A screaming face pushes out of the pustule on Tomura's body and detonates, taking most of the fortress with it. Down in the underground station, Power Loader reports the power line severed and the electromagnetic barrier holding by a thread. Mandalay follows with worse: flight control is gone, enemies are on the control center island, and with Erasure off the table, a fallen U.A. means an escaped Tomura and a world he ends himself.

Deku sees a warp gate forming near Tomura and recognizes Kurogiri's work, wondering what went wrong at Central Hospital. He also sees Tomura's body sloughing away like shed skin after the blast. Then Tomura speaks to him, asking what he plans to do about it now that he is here, telling him this is not a chat at the mall because he is Deku's villain, and Deku understands that the original personality has surfaced.

At the villains' hideout, Skeptic gloats over his access to U.A.'s systems and its underground evacuation network, promising that the ignorant public and the heroes will die for liberation. Deku is caught between keeping U.A. airborne for everyone inside and watching Kurogiri so Tomura cannot slip away. His breathing starts failing, the price of the strengthened Gearshift, which starves his cells of oxygen when they never get to rest.

The Second User tells him he cannot fall yet, and offers a silver lining: One For All and All For One resonate closely enough now that each can see into the other, and All For One has lost the ability to work Tomura's body. Whatever it takes, he says, make that body move, because every link that led here is Deku's power. Back at the lair, an intruding voice hijacks Skeptic's system and stuns him. At Counter-Force headquarters, La Brava announces cheerfully that tracking him down was enormous work and that no amount of it is too much, all for Gentle's sake.

Twice Doubles sent through Kurogiri's gate attack Eraser Head, Phantom Thief, and Manual, knocking Monoma down and cancelling Erasure.

Tomura releases a massive shockwave that wrecks most of the U.A. fortress past any repair, while Skeptic simultaneously seizes the school's systems and the evacuation facility, meaning to bring the whole structure down.

Speaking from outside the body he once occupied, Tomura's first personality resurfaces, and because All For One and One For All now resonate with one another, it becomes visible that the villain's grip has weakened.

Counted 377th in Horikoshi's serial, the eleven-page installment ran in issue 6-7 of 2023 before its collection in Volume 38, within the Final War arc.

Its animated coverage is split, with pages two through eleven in Episode 154 and the first page appearing in Episode 160.

Horikoshi's author comment complains about severe shoulder pain, joking that he would rather have never had shoulders at all.
