The family likeness between Olvia and a young Robin was striking, down to the matching shape and color of their eyes, brown on the printed page and blue in the broadcast version. What set the two apart was Olvia's white hair, worn longer and with a soft wave, plus a warmer skin tone in the anime. She cropped her hair short for the voyage to chase the Rio Poneglyph. When she came home from imprisonment, her outfit had changed entirely: a fur-trimmed coat thrown over a pale blue tee cut short enough to bare her midriff, paired with long green trousers, a belt studded with golden disc ornaments, and a simple three-pearl necklace.

Olvia understood exactly how much the World Government loathed Ohara, and she knew that hunting for Poneglyphs invited disaster. She sailed anyway, driven to hand the True History of the Void Century down to future generations. Her courage showed under interrogation, where she endured captivity without ever admitting she came from Ohara. Above all she loved her daughter, who shared the same dream. Leaving Robin wounded them both, yet Olvia chose to stay behind during the burning of the Tree of Knowledge to rescue her people's books, sending Robin off with Saul so the girl could survive and carry the truth forward.

At twenty-seven, recently widowed, Olvia joined thirty-three other archaeologists on a six-year expedition to study the Poneglyphs, entrusting Robin to her brother Oran and his wife Roji. In the final year the Marines intercepted their ship; her comrades died defending her, leaving Olvia the lone survivor. Jaguar D. Saul interrogated and jailed her, then, sickened by the Government's brand of justice, set her free and let her flee on a Marine vessel. She thanked the giant but would not forgive what he and his men had done. Reaching Ohara, she warned her fellow scholars of the looming threat, only to learn a Government ship had already landed. Grabbing a rifle, she rushed out, passing within seconds of her fleeing daughter without realizing it. She confronted Spandine and fired a warning shot through his sleeve before his CP9 agents knocked her out and arrested her. Paraded before the captured scholars to expose their guilt, she was at last reunited with Robin after Clover spoke the truth, embracing her and declaring her pride. She begged Saul to carry Robin to safety and told her daughter to live fully and pass the history on. As the Tree of Knowledge collapsed in flames, Olvia perished alongside the other scholars in the Buster Call.
