Hack

Towering and heavily built, Hack stands out through his flowing pale blue hair and a thick blue mustache. His skin is yellow, marked by brown speckling across the crown of his head, and the scales beneath his eyes, the gills along his neck, and his pointed teeth all betray his fish-man heritage. For clothing he favors an open martial-arts gi cinched with a black belt, an outfit reminiscent of the fighter Kuroobi.

While under the toy curse, his form was reshaped into that of a dog, though his original coloring carried over.

Composed and self-assured, Hack treats combat as something sacred, chasing a philosophy that genuine bonds can be forged through trading blows. That conviction keeps him fighting and makes him scornful of anyone who treats a match as a joke. He considers striking from behind dishonorable, yet he set that principle aside for Bartolomeo, whom he judged unworthy of courtesy after the rookie relieved himself at the edge of the arena rather than taking the bout seriously.

His fish-man physiology grants Hack roughly ten times a human's raw power, enough to clamp down on a giant gladiator's spiked club and freeze the weapon in place. He is a hundredth-level master and instructor of Fish-Man Karate, dropping foes larger than himself with single strikes, and he also practices Fish-Man Jujutsu. Toughness is his weak point, however, since a kick from Bartolomeo felled him after his hand shattered against a barrier. Over the years he trained countless orphans, including Sabo and Koala, the latter rising to become a karate instructor in her own right. He counts the Warlord Jinbe among his closest friends and shares his dream of unity between humans and fish-men, though Hack prefers to build that goodwill through fists.
