Cornrows braided in alternating blond and dark strands sit atop a heavyset frame draped in a fur coat of deep purple. Beneath that coat he favors a brightly colored suit accented by a rose pinned over his heart, with a cigar usually smoldering between his teeth. Those teeth are rounded and widely spaced, and a scar runs down between his eyes, which peer out through tiny spectacles. His ears, nose, and lips all read as oversized. Decades earlier he cut a leaner figure, his face unscarred and his teeth ordinary.

In polished company Lu Feld can play the courteous guest, going so far as to praise Perospero's handiwork. Drop the formality, though, and a meaner streak shows; he sneered at Drug Peclo's invitation to the gathering, an insult sharp enough that Stussy branded him petty. Money rules him completely. He eyed the treasure sealed inside the Tamatebako and schemed to swipe it, never mind that the chest belonged to Big Mom herself. When the Big Mom Pirates turned on the Vinsmokes, he treated the betrayal as comedy, chuckling at Judge's grief over Germa's doom rather than recoiling from it.

His clout in the Underworld is considerable, enough that Big Mom counts him worth a personal invitation to her parties. Vast fortune underwrites that standing, and his coffers once bankrolled the illegal experiments of MADS. He also shows surprising toughness for a financier: he stayed conscious through a blast of Big Mom's Conqueror's Haki and her deafening shrieks, and a long plunge while chasing the Tamatebako left him unhurt. What finally put him down was a Tobu Shigan fired by Stussy. Roughly thirty-nine years before the present, he supplied the vessel that let MADS carry out its research at sea. He attended the wedding tea party meant to join Sanji and Pudding, watched the ceremony collapse into chaos, and was shot mid-grab as the cursed chest tumbled away. The non-canon film Stampede also places him among the Underworld figures dealing with Buena Festa.
