A Horrible Past! The Secret of Dressrosa

As Block D rages on, the Thunder Soldier tells Usopp, Franky, and Robin how Riku lost his people's trust and his crown. Dressrosa had long been poor yet content, its citizens devoted to a royal line that had kept the land out of war for eight centuries. That peace shattered one night ten years earlier.

Doflamingo appeared in the king's chamber, recognized at once as a Donquixote descendant whose exploits included robbing the Celestial Dragons and extorting a Warlord seat. He demanded ten billion Berries by dawn or the country would suffer. Cornered, Riku chose to comply rather than risk war and quietly ordered his soldiers to collect every citizen's savings.

Tank Lepanto, leading the army, spread his men out to gather the people's fortunes without explaining why. Reluctant at first, the citizens relented once they saw their king kneeling and begging through a video Den Den Mushi, handing over their treasures with such trust that Tank was moved to tears.

As the wealth piled up, Riku rode into the city of Sebio and, weeping, began striking down innocents and wrecking everything around him while pleading for people to flee. His soldiers soon followed, equally unable to control their bodies. Hidden in the shadows, Doflamingo and his crew used his devil fruit to puppet the king and his men, biding their time to swoop in as Dressrosa's rescuers.

The broadcast adds Bartolomeo guiding Luffy to Zoro on screen, Tank's troops helping citizens rebuild early in the flashback, and the actual moment Doflamingo seized control of Riku. Because Rolling Logan was already beaten two episodes prior, Rebecca instead faces Meadows here rather than Logan. The king and Doflamingo's exchange is extended, and Tank hesitantly reaches for his sword when citizens balk. Meadows and the location Sebio debut. Rating 6.7.
