The Ultimate Weapon! Excite Bullets Aimed at Luffy

No sooner do her memories come back than Big Mom sinks into sleep. Taking advantage, Queen clamps her in Seastone, sedates her, and loads her onto a vessel bound for Onigashima with most of the wardens, leaving Udon barely guarded. The men who stay keep wrestling Luffy, who, even drawing on Ryuo, cannot quite put them away. Babanuki then turns the inmates loose on him; reluctant to fight yet dreading what Kaidou and Orochi would do, they abandon any hope of freedom and clamp Luffy down.

A flintlock shot from Daifugo strikes one captive, whose flesh erupts in green blotches and burns, and the sickness jumps to two others on touch. Daifugo discloses the round was an Excite Bullet seeded with a contagious plague, and he readies another. At that point Kawamatsu calls out from the sacred cell the guards thought caged a vicious beast. Babanuki explains the occupant is one of the Nine Red Scabbards, taken thirteen years prior and sentenced to die on poisoned fish, yet Kawamatsu lived and has remained there since. As the guards close in to kill him, he spits keen fishbones into their throats.

Queen binds, drugs, and ships Big Mom toward Onigashima, thinning Udon's defense. The prisoners are made to hold Luffy down. Daifugo reveals the Excite Bullets and sows a contagious plague among the captives. Kawamatsu is unveiled as the Scabbard who outlasted his poisoned-fish execution, and he repels the guards with fishbones. Making their debut here are Neoki, Hippan Natte, Nodoi Wakan, Zangirimaru, Hanji, and Hareji.

This marks the earliest entry where the episode and the chapter it adapts carry an identical number, a tally that also takes in Episode 1, given that one drew from Chapter 2. The adaptation adds Big Mom still demanding oshiruko before fainting, and Chopper dropping two grunts on the way to the cell, while Luffy's Haki training and Babanuki's commands both run longer than in print. Kawamatsu is shown in full while still penned rather than after stepping out, and during the transport Queen rides a boar instead of his chair. The episode falls within the Wano Country arc.
