Chapter 739

The hurtling ship brings the strike against Sugar to a dead stop, and the dwarves are gathered up for questioning. Robin wakes a Usopp who is playing dead and tells him to keep quiet, because Leo's band has been seized. Pressed for answers, the dwarves vow to surrender no names, but Trebol's casual claim of friendship with Usopp dupes Leo into shouting it out, and an almost identical trick pries loose the soldier's name as well. Calling their effort already finished, Trebol pours his flammable slime across the captives and lights it.

Usopp discovers Leo badly wounded yet adamant that Operation SOP carry on so the toy captain can topple Doflamingo, who awaits them. The view turns to Lao G on the verge of finishing the soldier, who flashes back to that morning: the bogus report of the warlord's resignation and a broken Rebecca calling the colosseum nothing but a wall of despair, snapping that he is only a toy soldier and not her real father before tearfully pleading with him to hold off the operation. In the present, Rebecca swings a dulled blade at Diamante and is crushed under a club of folded iron. Sabo tells Bartolomeo to guard her, while Diamante taunts her over how her mother Scarlett perished, dredging up her memory of being carried home lifeless by the toy soldier.

Over at the palace, Pica's quaking rattles the officer, letting Kabu's group ambush him so the soldier can advance on Doflamingo. Underground, Leo lays bare why a lone toy carries everything: of all who were transformed, only this one held onto free will and can stand against Doflamingo, and though the world has forgotten, he was once Kyros, the mightiest fighter the colosseum ever produced.

The officers' tower is reduced to rubble, and the sticky substance Trebol secretes is shown to catch fire. The chapter gives Rebecca's age as sixteen. The toy captain reaches the royal grounds along with the officer who beats him and Kabu's dwarf squad, the latter pinning the officer so the soldier can push on. He kept his own mind because Sugar overlooked the contract, and he stands revealed as Kyros, her very first victim in Dressrosa.
