Tsuru Returns the Favor

Facing the two pirates in the wasteland, Hawkins quizzes them on who truly controls Wano. Zoro pleads ignorance while Luffy bluntly names Kaidou as his target. Reading their fortunes, Hawkins puts the Straw Hats' odds of living to month's end at nineteen percent. Sensing the curse clinging to the blade Luffy carries, Zoro asks to borrow the Nidai Kitetsu, but his captain ignores him, flings away the scabbard, and strikes Hawkins' henchman with a bare fist instead. A giant Beasts Pirates lizard lunges, only for Luffy to dodge, grab it, and hurl it at Hawkins, who blocks with his straw sword.

Zoro lands a flying slash on Hawkins' face, yet the wound transfers onto one of his men. Hawkins explains his Wara Wara no Mi, which lets him pass any harm to a subordinate, and raises a towering straw figure. Drawing the Fool reversed, he turns his own followers against each other.

Komachiyo barges in and drags the duo away since Tama is barely breathing and needs care. As they flee, Hawkins draws the Hierophant reversed and sends the straw giant chasing, raining nails that gash Zoro's head. Zoro cleaves the scarecrow apart, and a fresh Hierophant draw signals that someone will aid their escape. The woman Zoro saved earlier names herself Tsurujo, asks after Tama's plight, and invites the group to her teahouse so she can brew medicine. In Okobore Town, a sumo wrestler named Urashima pesters the teahouse worker Kiku to marry him until Tsuru arrives with her new companions. From a distant peak, Bepo, Shachi, and Penguin catch sight of Luffy and Zoro through binoculars.

The fight against Hawkins ends only when Komachiyo intervenes, and the captain pegs the crew's survival chance at nineteen percent. Hawkins' Devil Fruit is identified as the Wara Wara no Mi. Tsurujo, owner of a tea house, introduces herself and pledges to help Tama. The tea house worker Kiku makes her first appearance. Bepo, Shachi, and Penguin have located the two Straw Hats.
