Minako Aino / Sailor Venus

Bubbly and 14 at her introduction, Minako wears her long blonde hair loose beneath a large red bow, her blue eyes bright above a cheerful face. Her Shiba Koen school outfit is a white sailor blouse with a red scarf, blue skirt, and black Mary Janes, while her off-duty wardrobe shifts season to season, from a red denim jacket in the early episodes to a long green dress with leggings and platform shoes later on.

Her first guardian identity, the decoy Sailor V, breaks from the team's uniform with a bare-midriff top, armored shoulder guards, a red mask, and no crescent, carrying over the red ribbon from her civilian look. As her true Sailor Venus self she wears the orange-toned chest-armored leotard and gold tiara, and the Super upgrade lengthens her bow, sets a heart on her front, and stars her choker.

Minako is mostly silly and childlike, but she can turn serious, and of all the guardians she is the most committed to their cause. Acting as second-in-command, she rallies the team when they must hold together, insisting they press on even after the others fall in the first season. Athletic and quick to sense danger, with sharper reflexes than the other Inner Guardians, she owes much of that edge to her earlier days as Sailor V.

Her time in London left her fluent in English, though she is just as famous for mangling proverbs and mixing up common sayings. A caring but clumsy academic underachiever much like Usagi, she also shows a wistful, mature streak tied to past heartaches, along with a wild, impulsive side that shrugs off consequences, whether two-timing enemies or getting her own heart deliberately targeted out of pique.

Before moving to Japan, Minako fought the Dark Kingdom in London as Sailor V. There she fell for a man named Alan and grew close to Katarina, an Interpol officer who taught her English and became like an older sister. Caught in an explosion during a mission, she survived but let Katarina believe she had died, and after seeing that Alan and Katarina loved each other, she quietly left for Japan.

She joins the story proper in episode 33, saving the other guardians from one of Kunzite's traps; carrying the strongest memories of her past life, she throws herself fully into finding the Moon Princess. Katarina resurfaces in episode 42, turned into a monster by Kunzite, and once healed the two reconcile as friends. Through the R season Minako grows goofier and more excitable, doting on others even as her attempts to help, like nursing the sick guardians, tend to backfire.

In Sailor Moon Super she is the last Inner Guardian to have her Pure Heart Crystal taken, which needles her enough that she gives away blood and prizes to prove her heart is pure; when Eudial finally extracts it, she keeps her wits, runs off with it, and later transforms to shatter Eudial's fire buster with her chain. In SuperS she escapes her captured dream mirror by outfoxing Tiger's Eye and Hawk's Eye, scolds them for prying into her dreams, and is upgraded to her Super form by Pegasus before a brief rift with Makoto over a shared crush mends itself.
