Dabura is the King of the Demon Realm and one of the most powerful warriors under the wizard Babidi's control during the Buu Saga. Placed under Babidi's spell, Dabura serves as the organization's enforcer and gatekeeper, testing the strength of anyone who dares to challenge his master.
Dabura is introduced as Babidi's strongest servant, stationed as the final barrier between the Z Fighters and Majin Buu's sealed cocoon. His power is estimated to be roughly equivalent to Perfect Cell, making him a serious threat. When Gohan, Goku, and Vegeta infiltrate Babidi's spaceship, Dabura fights Gohan in a prolonged battle, using his unique ability to turn anything he spits on into stone. He petrifies both Krillin and Piccolo during this encounter.
Dabura's most consequential action is not his fighting but his psychological insight. Recognizing the darkness lurking in Vegeta's heart, Dabura advises Babidi to exploit the Saiyan prince's pride and frustration. This leads directly to Vegeta's transformation into Majin Vegeta, which provides the energy needed to unseal Buu. Ironically, once Buu is awakened, Dabura immediately recognizes the creature as an uncontrollable monster and urges Babidi to reseal him. Buu responds by killing Dabura with a single devastating blow, turning the mighty Demon King into a cookie and eating him.
Dabura's primary narrative function is to establish the power scale of the Buu Saga. By placing him at roughly Cell's level and then having Buu dispatch him effortlessly, the story communicates just how dangerous Majin Buu truly is. Dabura's stone spit ability also creates tension by temporarily removing Krillin and Piccolo from the fight, and the condition that they can only be restored if Dabura is killed or incapacitated adds urgency to the battle.
Beyond his role as a benchmark villain, Dabura is notable for being one of the few characters in Dragon Ball who is sent to Heaven after death specifically because he would enjoy Hell too much. This humorous detail, where Dabura is forced to exist in paradise surrounded by flowers and kindness, provides a rare moment of comedic irony in the otherwise intense Buu Saga.
Dabura is killed by Majin Buu after Babidi turns on him. Once Buu is fully revived, Babidi orders Dabura to deal with the threats around them, but Buu transforms Dabura into a cookie and devours him, ending the demon king's life.
Dabura is the King of the Demon Realm, not a Majin. Although he serves Babidi during the Buu Saga and benefits from Babidi's magic, his demonic origin is independent of the Majin lineage that Buu belongs to.
Dabura serves as an antagonist during the Majin Buu Saga, fighting on Babidi's behalf and turning Piccolo and Krillin to stone with his saliva. After his death, however, he ends up in Heaven thanks to his exposure to the goodness of the upper world, and he is later shown helping the heroes from the afterlife.
Dabura's signature ability is turning anyone he spits on into stone. He uses this technique to petrify Piccolo and Krillin during the events leading up to Majin Buu's revival, removing them from the battlefield without killing them outright.
Dabura had begun to recognize that Babidi's leverage over Buu was failing, and Babidi ultimately ordered Buu to act against him. Buu transformed Dabura into a cookie and ate him, demonstrating that even Babidi's most powerful enforcer was disposable once Buu was free.
