Giru is a small Machine Mutant robot who becomes an unlikely companion to Goku, Pan, and Trunks during their journey through space in Dragon Ball GT. After accidentally swallowing the Dragon Radar, he integrates its functionality into his own systems.
Giru first encounters the GT crew on a distant planet early in their quest to find the Black Star Dragon Balls. When the tiny robot consumes the Dragon Radar, the group has no choice but to keep him around, since his body has absorbed and replicated the device's tracking capability. What begins as an inconvenient arrangement gradually develops into a genuine bond, particularly between Giru and Pan.
Throughout the Black Star Dragon Ball and Baby Sagas, Giru serves as the team's navigator and scout. His small size and mechanical nature allow him to access areas that the Saiyan fighters cannot, and his built-in radar proves indispensable for locating the scattered Dragon Balls across the galaxy. Despite appearing cowardly and unreliable at times, Giru demonstrates loyalty when it matters most.
On the Machine Mutant planet M-2, Giru seemingly betrays the group by leading them into a trap set by Dr. Myuu. However, this turns out to be a calculated deception; Giru had been working against Dr. Myuu from within, gathering intelligence and waiting for the right moment to aid his friends. This twist redeems his character and cements his role as a trusted member of the team.
