Biography Highlights

Majin Buu has existed since time immemorial, alternating between rampages and long periods of dormancy. The ancient wizard Bibidi discovered how to awaken and partially control Buu, unleashing him against the Supreme Kais of Universe 7. Buu killed the North and West Supreme Kais, then absorbed the South Supreme Kai and the Grand Supreme Kai. These absorptions inadvertently softened Buu's nature, eventually producing the childlike, rotund Buu that Babidi later awakens on Earth.

The Emergence of Pure Buu

After a chain of absorptions and separations involving Gotenks, Piccolo, and Gohan, Goku and Vegeta enter Super Buu's body and remove all of the absorbed fighters along with the pod containing the original Fat Buu. This extraction causes Super Buu to revert to his most primal state: Kid Buu. Smaller and leaner than his other incarnations, Kid Buu is also far more dangerous because he possesses no empathy, no self-preservation instinct, and no hesitation. Within moments of emerging, he destroys the Earth with a single energy sphere.

The Final Battle

Goku and Vegeta, saved by the Supreme Kai's Instant Transmission, confront Kid Buu on the Sacred World of the Kais. Vegeta fights first, enduring a brutal beating to buy time while Goku gathers energy for a Super Saiyan 3 assault. Even at full power, Goku cannot put Kid Buu down permanently due to the creature's limitless regeneration and stamina. The fight culminates in a massive Spirit Bomb fueled by the energy of every living person on the newly restored Earth. Mr. Satan's plea convinces the reluctant population to contribute their energy, and Goku uses a wish from the Namekian Dragon Balls to restore his full power, finally obliterating Kid Buu.

Combat Abilities

Kid Buu fights with no technique, no strategy, and no regard for his own safety. His combat style is pure instinct and violence. He attacks relentlessly, laughing and shrieking as he tears through opponents. What he lacks in martial arts discipline, he compensates for with overwhelming speed, power, and an almost infinite reserve of energy that never seems to diminish no matter how long the fight continues.

His body is composed of a malleable, rubbery substance that can stretch, reshape, and regenerate from virtually any damage. He has survived being blown to vapor and reconstituted himself within seconds. This regeneration, combined with his ability to replicate any technique he has seen (including the Kamehameha and Vegeta's energy attacks), makes him an adaptive and unpredictable foe.

Kid Buu's most terrifying ability is the Planet Burst, a concentrated sphere of energy powerful enough to annihilate an entire planet instantly. He uses this technique casually and without warning, treating planetary destruction as little more than amusement. He can also absorb other beings by enveloping them in pieces of his own body, gaining their power and abilities in the process.

Character Development

Kid Buu is deliberately simple as a character, and that simplicity is the point. He exists as the thematic opposite of every other Buu incarnation. Fat Buu has innocence. Super Buu has cunning. Kid Buu has nothing but destruction. He does not speak in complete sentences. He does not make plans. He does not negotiate or gloat. He simply destroys everything in his path, then moves on to destroy more.

This makes Kid Buu the most existentially threatening villain in Dragon Ball Z. Frieza wanted to rule. Cell wanted to prove himself. Kid Buu wants nothing at all, which means there is no way to reason with him, bargain with him, or appeal to any hidden goodness. The only resolution is total annihilation. Fittingly, Goku requests that Kid Buu be reincarnated as a good person, and the creature is eventually reborn as the human boy Uub, carrying all of Buu's immense power but guided by a kind heart.
