Role in the Buu Saga

Yakon is a fearsome beast from Planet Ankoku, a world shrouded in total darkness. He was recruited by the wizard Babidi to serve as the guardian of the second level inside Babidi's spacecraft, which houses the sealed orb containing Majin Buu.

His species has adapted to life without light, giving him the ability to see perfectly in complete darkness. Babidi teleports the battlefield to Yakon's home planet to give him every possible advantage. In the dark, Yakon can also absorb light energy from his opponents, draining their power in the process.

Goku is chosen to fight Yakon and initially appears to struggle when the lights go out. However, Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan, generating light energy that Yakon eagerly consumes. Goku then deliberately overloads Yakon by pushing his energy output higher and higher. Unable to contain the sheer volume of energy, Yakon swells up and explodes, meeting a swift end.
