A Hostile Homecoming

Episode 28 brings the space crew back to Earth at last. Goku, Pan, and Trunks deliver the Black Star Dragon Balls to Dende at the Lookout for safekeeping, deciding against using them to restore Goku's adult body since that would require another year-long countdown. Everything seems normal until Dende's eyes flash with Baby's signature malice after the group departs.

Mr. Satan turns out to be the only uninfected human left on the planet. He survived by hiding inside Majin Buu's body as a pod person. Baby's parasitic eggs cannot take root in Buu because the Majin carries too much inherent goodness. Together, Mr. Satan and Buu fend off waves of Baby's slaves at the Satan mansion before fleeing to warn Goku.

Cold Shoulders and Colder Truths

Goku and Pan arrive home to an icy reception. Goku assumes Chi-Chi is angry about his child-sized body, while Pan thinks Videl is upset about the unsanctioned space trip. The subtle hostility deepens when Chi-Chi smacks Goku's hand with a spatula and prepares only enough food for four ordinary humans, not nearly enough for a Saiyan appetite.

At Capsule Corporation, Trunks receives a similarly strange welcome. Giru's alarm signals danger, but Trunks dismisses it as his father's intimidating presence. Vegeta greets him warmly, learns the Dragon Balls are secured at the Lookout, and then transforms into Baby Vegeta. He reveals that a seed was already planted inside Trunks during their earlier encounter. Despite struggling, Trunks cannot resist Baby's control.

Every Son an Enemy

The worst of it comes when Gohan and Goten appear at Goku's destroyed home and attack without warning. Gohan promises to kill Pan and knocks her unconscious, igniting Goku's fury. In his base form alone, Goku overpowers both of his sons in their Super Saiyan states. Just as he prepares to launch a Kamehameha at them, Mr. Satan and Majin Buu arrive and reveal the full scope of the disaster.

Every person on Earth is under Baby's control. Before Goku can process this, Baby Vegeta descends from the sky and promises to destroy the last free Saiyan standing. The stage is set for the most personal battle of Goku's life, where every face on the opposing side belongs to someone he loves.
