Goku's fallen friends train alongside King Kai in the Other World while Goku ramps up to 50x gravity. On Namek, Krillin and Dende set out for Grand Elder Guru's tower, and Vegeta clashes with Zarbon, whose monstrous hidden form proves overwhelming.
During his voyage through space, Goku receives an unexpected telepathic call from King Kai. The news is heartening: Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu, and even Piccolo have all arrived on King Kai's planet and begun their own training regimen. Goku fills King Kai in on the crisis unfolding on Namek, but when King Kai realizes Frieza is involved, he pleads with Goku to stay away. The terror in King Kai's voice speaks volumes about just how dangerous the tyrant truly is.
Piccolo, undeterred by King Kai's warnings, promises to train hard enough to take Frieza down once he is revived. His determination inspires Goku, who cranks the gravity chamber to fifty times Earth's pull. Every movement becomes a monumental effort, but the Saiyan warrior thrives under pressure. Each rep, each strike, each moment of strain carves new power into his body, preparing him for the battles that await on Namek.
The training montage reveals Goku's incredible work ethic. While others would crumble under fifty times normal gravity, Goku pushes through with gritted teeth and unwavering focus. His body screams in protest, but his will refuses to bend. This is the crucible that will forge the warrior capable of standing against Frieza's elite forces.
While Krillin and Dende travel toward the Grand Elder's home, Vegeta encounters Zarbon and immediately picks a fight. The initial exchange goes well for the Saiyan prince, whose recent power gains allow him to trade blows with Frieza's elegant lieutenant. But Zarbon has been holding back a terrible secret: the ability to transform into a grotesque, far more powerful form that he normally keeps hidden out of vanity.
Zarbon's reluctance to transform speaks to his character. He prizes his beauty above almost everything else, and the monstrous shape required to access his full power disgusts him. But when Vegeta pushes him far enough, survival instincts override aesthetics.
Once transformed, Zarbon becomes a different fighter entirely. His speed and strength dwarf Vegeta's, and the prince is battered mercilessly. The beating leaves Vegeta broken and unconscious on the Namekian landscape. It is a humbling defeat for the proud Saiyan, but as any Dragon Ball veteran knows, a Saiyan who survives a near-fatal beating only comes back stronger.
Vegeta's unconscious body lies in a crater, left for dead. But the Saiyan biology that makes these warriors so dangerous is already at work, repairing damage and encoding the combat data from this defeat into raw power that will manifest when he awakens.
