Manga ChapterCh. 14

A Lesson for the Ox-King

Before tackling the flames, Roshi rounds on the Ox-King and chastises him for killing travelers over a pile of treasure. The giant bows low and apologizes, promising to mend his ways. Roshi then takes Goku and Bulma aside to reconfirm the arrangement: in exchange for putting out Fire Mountain, Bulma must let him cop a feel. She grudgingly agrees, already regretting every step of this journey.

The First Kamehameha

Roshi strips off his shirt and the heavy turtle shell on his back, revealing a thin, frail body that makes the onlookers wonder if the old man has lost his mind. After Goku helps boost him atop a stone wall, Roshi plants his feet, draws his hands to his side, and begins focusing his ki. His spindly frame suddenly swells into a mountain of muscle as he launches his signature technique forward in a roaring beam of blue light.

Aftermath

The Kamehameha tears across Fire Mountain and snuffs the flames in a single devastating burst. The Dragon Team stands stunned at the sheer power on display, though their awe quickly curdles when the dust settles and they realize Roshi has also obliterated the castle and the mountain itself, leaving behind little more than smoking rubble where the Ox-King's treasure once stood. The energy attack, the first in the series, announces that this world has martial artists capable of reshaping the landscape at will.
