A dangerous warrior race from Planet Hera known for their teal skin, orange hair, and devastating Full Power transformation. Led by Bojack, the Galaxy Soldiers were the last survivors of the race, sealed within a star by the Kais before breaking free during the events of Bojack Unbound. The race is now considered extinct.
The Hera Clan, also called the Race of Hera, originated on Planet Hera and were known throughout the galaxy as a destructive force that conquered and demolished worlds at will. Their most recognizable physical traits are their teal-colored skin and orange hair, though Akira Toriyama's original design featured green skin and red hair before the anime adaptation altered the palette.
In stature, they are comparable to Saiyans, and their warrior culture drew similar comparisons. Bojack himself acknowledged this parallel in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, boasting to a Saiyan warrior that despite their reputation, they were nothing compared to the almighty Race of Hera.
Members of the Hera Clan possess a racial transformation triggered by concentrating their ki to its maximum output. In this Full Power state, their hair shifts to red, their skin turns lime-green, and their muscle mass increases dramatically. Kogu was the first to display this form during his fight against Future Trunks, and Bojack later demonstrated it against Vegeta. The transformation draws obvious parallels to the Saiyans' Super Saiyan form, suggesting convergent evolution among warrior races in the Dragon Ball universe.
The Hera Clan's reign of terror across the galaxy was ultimately ended not by any mortal force, but by divine intervention. The Kais themselves deemed Bojack and his Galaxy Soldiers too dangerous to roam free and sealed them within a star. This imprisonment lasted for an unknown span of time until the seal was inadvertently broken when King Kai's planet was destroyed during Cell's self-destruction.
Freed from their celestial prison, Bojack and his crew descended upon Earth during the Intergalactic Tournament organized by Mr. Satan's sponsor, X.S. Cash. The Galaxy Soldiers systematically overpowered the Z Fighters, with Bojack personally dominating the battlefield until young Gohan, inspired by a brief spiritual intervention from his father Goku in Other World, ascended to Super Saiyan 2 and obliterated Bojack with a devastating punch through the chest. The remaining Galaxy Soldiers were eliminated in the same battle, effectively rendering the Race of Hera extinct.
In the Super Dragon Ball Heroes continuity, Bojack and his crew were later brought to the Prison Planet as prisoners, where Bojack obtained the Two-Star Special Dragon Ball. In the manga version, Future Trunks fought Bojack in the Slum Area, only for Cooler to finish the job with a surprise Death Beam and claim the Dragon Ball for himself.
Every confirmed member of the Hera Clan belonged to Bojack's mercenary band, the Galaxy Soldiers. Bojack served as the ruthless leader, wielding immense power and strategic cunning. Zangya was the sole female member, skilled in psychic barriers and energy manipulation. Kogu operated as the group's swordsman, relying on a blade-based fighting style. Bido contributed raw physical strength, while Bujin specialized in psychic thread techniques that could bind opponents in place.
Interestingly, the bio-android Fu, created by Towa and Mira, is listed as a partial member of the Hera Clan due to Bojack's DNA being incorporated into his creation. This makes Fu the only character in the franchise to carry Hera Clan genetic material outside the original five survivors.
During the Universe Creation Saga in Super Dragon Ball Heroes, Fu recruited a revived Bojack alongside Turles to confront Goku and Vegeta at the base of the Universe Tree. Powered up by Fu's enhancements, Bojack gained an Evil Aura similar to the Evil Saiyan state, giving him enough strength to challenge Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta. Though ultimately unable to overcome the Saiyans, Bojack's repeated returns from death speak to the enduring appeal of the Hera Clan as antagonists in the Dragon Ball franchise.
