Eyes from Above

The Far-Seeing Arts is a telepathic ability that grants the user awareness of distant events without being physically present. Beings who occupy elevated spiritual positions, such as the Guardian of Earth, the Kais, and Korin, can use this technique to monitor what happens in the mortal world below them. The range and clarity of the vision depends on the user's level of spiritual power. King Kai can observe his entire quadrant of the universe, while Korin's vision is limited to events on Earth. The technique requires concentration and a still position, typically performed while standing at the edge of a lookout or platform.

Kami, King Kai, and Dende

Korin used the Far-Seeing Arts throughout the original Dragon Ball series to keep tabs on Goku's adventures from atop Korin Tower. Kami took the practice further, spending much of his time standing at the edge of the Lookout and gazing down at the world below, tracking threats and monitoring the Dragon Team's progress. King Kai, from his small planet at the end of Snake Way, could observe events across the entire North Area of Universe 7. After Kami fused with Piccolo, Dende inherited the position of Guardian and gained the Far-Seeing Arts along with it. Piccolo himself gained a version of the ability after merging with Kami, explaining how he often knows about threats before other Z Fighters.

Old Kai's Questionable Uses

Old Kai claimed to possess an "omniscient vision" that he primarily used for decidedly non-heroic purposes. In the anime, he openly admitted to using it to spy on girls playing beach volleyball, claiming it made girlie magazines unnecessary. In the manga, his confession was even more explicit: he used the ability to watch women undress. When Goku tried to bribe Old Kai with magazine photographs in exchange for unlocking Gohan's potential, the ancient Kai scoffed, noting that his Far-Seeing Arts provided far better entertainment than any printed page. Despite his questionable priorities, Old Kai did use the ability productively alongside a Crystal Ball to observe the critical battles against Super Buu and Kid Buu.
