Vegeta's Versatile Sphere

The Photon Bomber is one of Vegeta's more straightforward attacks: he raises one hand, curls his fingers, charges a white energy sphere, and launches it forward. No elaborate pose, no dramatic speech. Just raw power delivered with Saiyan efficiency. The attack has appeared in several color variations depending on the context, ranging from white to transparent blue in the Broly film.

From Dr. Gero's Lab to the Demon Realm

Vegeta first uses the Photon Bomber while searching the mountains for Dr. Gero during the Android Saga. Frustrated that the old man refuses to show himself, Vegeta flies up and fires the attack at the landscape below. Unfortunately for Vegeta, Dr. Gero reveals himself by sprinting out and absorbing the energy, much to the Saiyan prince's surprise.

Krillin later uses the same technique as a finishing blow to destroy Dr. Gero's lab, ensuring no more androids would emerge. Majin Vegeta fires one during his brutal clash with Super Saiyan 2 Goku, and later the two Saiyans combine their Photon Bombers into a joint energy sphere against Super Buu's Ultimate Cannon.

In Dragon Ball Daima, a miniaturized Vegeta blasts Tamagami Number Two point-blank in the face with one, and later fires another at a Gendarmerie officer upon arriving in the First Demon World. The technique also appears in the DBS manga with Perfected Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta using it against the Galactic Patrol Prisoners on New Namek.

The Broly Problem

One of the most memorable uses comes in Dragon Ball Z: Broly, The Legendary Super Saiyan, where Vegeta hurls a Photon Bomber at the rampaging Legendary Super Saiyan. The transparent blue sphere is powerful enough that Goku clears the area in a panic before Vegeta fires, and the resulting detonation sends Paragus flying. But against Broly himself? Absolutely nothing. The Legendary Super Saiyan walks through it without flinching, perfectly illustrating the hopelessness of that encounter.
