Sword of Hope

Technique

Future Trunks' ultimate technique, forged by absorbing the hopes and energy of every remaining survivor into his Light Sword. This is the blade that bisected Fused Zamasu.

Forged from Humanity's Hope

The Sword of Hope operates on a principle similar to the Spirit Bomb: gathering the energy of living beings into a concentrated weapon. When the hopes and ki of every surviving person flow into Future Trunks, he absorbs it all into his body. His Light Sword, already a formidable energy blade, expands dramatically in size and power. The ki particles shift rapidly between blue and gold before settling into a brilliant white glow. The resulting weapon is enormous, towering far above Trunks himself.

This is not just a power boost. The Sword of Hope represents something deeply personal for Future Trunks. He has spent his entire life watching his world be destroyed by one threat after another. The fact that the survivors trust him enough to give him their energy, knowing he is their last line of defense, transforms the blade into something more than a weapon. It is proof that his timeline's people have not given up.

Cutting Down a God

Future Trunks forges the Sword of Hope during the final battle against Fused Zamasu. After Goku and Vegeta's fusion as Vegito Blue runs out, Zamasu appears unstoppable. But Trunks rallies the surviving humans, calling out to them to share their power. As their energy flows into him, his Super Saiyan Rage aura intensifies and the Sword of Hope materializes in full. Trunks charges Zamasu, shatters his Violent Fierce God Slicer, and finishes the fallen Kai with the Final Hope Slash, bisecting Zamasu's body completely.

The manga version handles the scene differently; Trunks does not use the Sword of Hope form in the main storyline, though he appears wielding it on the alternate cover of "The Decisive Battle! Farewell, Trunks!" volume.

A Swordsman's Final Evolution

The Sword of Hope is the logical endpoint of Future Trunks' identity as a swordsman. From the moment he first appeared, slicing Mecha Frieza to pieces, Trunks has been defined by his blade. The Brave Sword, the Light Sword, the Spirit Sword; each represents a stage in his growth. The Sword of Hope takes that progression to its ultimate conclusion by making the weapon itself a vessel for the collective will of an entire world. It is Trunks' answer to the Spirit Bomb, filtered through his own fighting style and personal history.
