Abiru

Once an Academy student in Sunagakure, Abiru was a football-mad boy who played through the village streets with his friends. Too new to his training to climb walls, he is best remembered for a terrifying childhood brush with a young Gaara.

Ada

A former Kara operative turned Konoha resident, Ada is a girl remade by Amado with Ōtsutsuki DNA into an irresistible force. Everyone who sees her falls helplessly under her spell, yet all she truly craves is a love that is genuine rather than compelled.

A (First Raikage)

The founding leader of Kumogakure, who raised the Hidden Cloud in the Land of Lightning once the Warring States era had passed. A prideful figure remembered for insisting that a true leader never bows his head, he shaped the village's early identity and handed his convictions down to the guard who succeeded him.

A (Fourth Raikage)

The muscle-bound Fourth Raikage of Kumogakure, a wrestling-style powerhouse cloaked in lightning who came to lead the Allied Shinobi Forces. Fiercely devoted to his adopted brother Killer B and famed as one of the fastest fighters of his age, he tore through the great war with fists like thunder.

Agara

A chūnin from the hidden village of Takigakure, Agara had only a fleeting appearance that ended in tragedy. Serving on a routine mission, he crossed paths with Kabuto Yakushi and became an early casualty of the scientist's deadly new experiments.

Agari

Agari is the wife of the boatman Giichi and a resident of the Land of Waves. Unable to have children of her own, she came to treat the young Inari like a son and stood with her family in the struggle to free their homeland.

Agari Kaisen

Agari Kaisen leads the Kedōin Clan and counts Tsunade among his old friends. A cheerful showman skilled in the clan's face-copying art, he once staged an elaborate fake mission to test a trio of young Leaf genin on Tsunade's behalf.

Ageha

Ageha is a poor young girl from the Land of Waves, orphaned when Gatō's thugs killed her parents. Despite her hardship she keeps a bright and gentle spirit, remembered for a small moment of kindness from Sakura.

Agira Ryūdōin

Agira Ryūdōin was a formidable puppet-wielding warrior and father to Jakō, Rokkaku, and Genshō. Honourable to the last, he once pushed Might Guy to open the Eight Gates before falling, and died wishing only for a rematch with the man who bested him.

Ahiko

Ahiko was one of the prisoners held at Orochimaru's Northern Hideout, a violent brute marked by a cursed seal that lent him the look of a frilled lizard. He stood among the captives who met Sasuke Uchiha's team, and fell to them without much of a fight.

Aho Bird

The Aho Bird is a running gag that flits through the Naruto anime, a small crow-like creature that turns up the instant a ninja does something foolish. It circles overhead and squawks a mocking word meaning fool or dummy, rubbing salt into whatever blunder just happened.

Aino

Aino is a palace attendant from the Land of Ancestors who lives a thousand years before Naruto's era. Assigned to wait on Kaguya Otsutsuki after the pale visitor arrives on Earth, she grows unusually close to her mistress and ultimately gives her own life to shield Kaguya and her unborn twins.

Ajisai

Ajisai serves the Hidden Rain as a young kunoichi, devoted heart and soul to the peace-through-suffering creed that Konan and Pain preach. A sealing specialist much like Tenten, she dies early on her first S-rank job, after which Nagato reanimates her corpse to fill the Animal Path role among his six bodies, the second to hold it.

Akaboshi

Akaboshi is a level-headed operative of the Magaki Group, a band of mercenaries out to seize the forbidden Fury technique guarded by the Tsuchigumo clan. Calm and analytical, he often directs the squad in the field and fights through cooperative jutsu powered by his teammates' chakra.

Akahoshi

Akahoshi is a ruthlessly ambitious shinobi of Hoshigakure who murders the Third Hoshikage, seizes control of the village, and crowns himself the self-styled Fourth Hoshikage. Obsessed with the star meteorite's power, he revives the deadly star training and eventually fuses the meteor into his own chest.

Akamaru

Akamaru is the nin-dog and lifelong partner of Kiba Inuzuka, a member of Konoha's Inuzuka clan and of Team Kurenai. Inseparable from Kiba since puppyhood, he fights at his side through the Chunin Exams, the hunt for Sasuke, and the Fourth Great Shinobi War, growing from a jacket-sized pup into a mount big enough to ride.

Akane

Akane is a boy from the Land of Waves who once bullied Inari and made off with his pet dog Pochi. After Kaiza rescues Inari and sets him straight, Akane trades tormenting for friendship, and years later he lends a hand rebuilding Konoha as a carpenter.

Akane (Kunoichi)

Akane is a young kunoichi of Konohagakure best known for her crush on Naruto Uzumaki. Along with her friends she chases the village hero for his attention, more taken with his fame than with the discipline of a shinobi's life.

Akari Tatsushiro

Akari Tatsushiro is a young girl who appears in the game Naruto Shippuden: Dragon Blade Chronicles. The younger sister of Kuroma and a member of the Ryu clan, she hands Naruto the Dragon Blade and guides Team Kakashi through Mount Koryu before a fateful choice turns her into the Light Genryu.

Akatsuchi

A jonin of Iwagakure, Akatsuchi serves as Onoki's ever-present bodyguard, so dependable at the Third Tsuchikage's side that he earns the nickname of the old man's shield. Jovial away from combat yet coldly effective within it, he stands with the Hidden Stone through the great war and on into the New Era.

Akebi Sanzu

Akebi Sanzu is the late daughter of the Kara scientist Amado, and losing her set the whole course of his work. Her preserved genetics seeded the cyborg Delta, while her digitized memories became the prize her father spent years struggling to restore into a body that would truly be her again.

Akemaru

Akemaru is a ninken bred within the Inuzuka clan of Konohagakure, a red-furred hound who partners Kiba in the Boruto era. Much like the older Akamaru in his build, he stands out instead through his scarlet coat.

Akino

Akino is one of Kakashi Hatake's personal ninken summons, a sunglasses-wearing tracker who operates in close concert with the wider pack. He appears throughout Kakashi's missions, leaning on sharp senses and coordinated tactics to run quarry down and hold it fast.

Akio

Akio, the younger sibling of Todoroki, was thought lost for good, yet he survives and stands at the head of a company of orphaned children across the Land of Forests. A skilled fighter, he ultimately picks a life spent guarding those kids over rejoining his own family.

Akita Inuzuka

Akita Inuzuka belongs to Konohagakure's Inuzuka clan and works as a lead researcher on the Scientific Ninja Weapons Team. Once a field ninja devoted to her hound Chamaru, she turned to science after Katasuke built her injured partner a prosthetic limb.

Akkun

Akkun is a small, flawed Akuta that took shape from the remnants of others and bonded closely with Inojin Yamanaka. Childlike and curious instead of hostile, it becomes a fiercely loyal companion during the trouble in Iwagakure before giving its life for Inojin.

Amachi

Amachi is a medical-nin and researcher, once a collaborator of Orochimaru, who inflicted brutal experiments on those dwelling across the Land of the Sea. What defines him is the amphibious Kaima shape his self-experiments unlocked and his exploitation of the transformed girl Isaribi.

Amado Sanzu

Amado Sanzu is a brilliant scientist who once ran research and development for the shadow organization Kara before defecting to Konohagakure. Nearly every scheme he sets in motion traces back to a single private goal: returning his dead daughter Akebi to life.

Amagi

A chunin of Sunagakure, Amagi has reported straight to Kankuro ever since he turned fifteen. A devout follower of ninshu and the teachings of the Six Paths Sage, he fights with thrown blades while battling his own impatience and thirst for revenge.

Amagi Izuno

Amagi Izuno heads Konohagakure's Izuno clan and is the grandmother of Wasabi. Fond of embellishing the old tales of her family's cat-based techniques, she has long pinned her hopes for the clan's future on her granddaughter's promise.

Amai

A Kumogakure medical-nin, Amai puts his calling as a healer ahead of the grudges that divide the villages. Unable to save his fallen comrade Karai alone, he set aside the rivalry between their nations and begged Tsunade to intervene.

Amaru

Amaru is an apprentice healer raised in a Land of Fire village, an orphan shut out in childhood who came to worship the doctor Shinno for the kindness he showed her. Her anguish at his seeming death almost lets the Zero-Tails consume her before Naruto draws her back.

Amayo

Amayo is a level-headed mother whose brief marriage to the wealthy Michiru Tsuki left deep scars. Separated from her young son Hikaru by a harsh wedding contract, she carries a fierce conviction that love and safety matter far more than any fortune a rich man can offer.

Ameno

Ameno is a Sand-village kunoichi and dedicated medical ninja who pairs healing chakra with Water Release. Calm and principled to a fault, she will mend even a stranger or a rival, treating her duty to the wounded as something that outranks the rivalry of any exam or battlefield.

Ameyuki

Ameyuki is a Mud Release wielder whose kekkei genkai made him an outcast and, eventually, a highly prized name in the Bingo Book. Haunted by the death of his only friend Hohozuki, he lives on under that friend's name in the hidden haven of Shangri-la, quietly hoping someone will finally come to end him.

Ameyuri Ringo

Ameyuri Ringo is the lone confirmed woman among the previous generation of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, a Kirigakure blade master who fought with the twin lightning swords Kiba. Playful and merciless, she hunts her chosen prey without fail, yet reserves genuine respect for any opponent brave enough to test her.

Ami

Ami is a former Konoha Academy student remembered mainly for tormenting a young Sakura Haruno over her forehead. Boastful and clique-minded, she leaned on a circle of friends for backup and fancied herself a cut above both Sakura and Ino Yamanaka during their student days.

Amino

Amino belongs to the Bamboo Village and is the daughter of Iō. Remembered as gentle and much-loved, she meets a grim end in either account: slain in a raid while carrying her first child in the novel, or turned into an exploding human during the anime's siege of her home.

Amuda

Amuda is a former member of the Lightning Group, a band of kekkei genkai users hunted for their powers who robbed criminals to aid the downtrodden. Betrayed and broken after Kirigakure engineered his group's destruction, he loses his will to live and later offers himself up as a human bomb in Chino's campaign of revenge.

Anaguma

Anaguma is a Kirigakure shinobi who moonlights as a bounty hunter, a calm and careful veteran who wields Water Release. Best known from the Labyrinth Game, he holds his nerve through captivity and deadly trials, repeatedly putting himself on the line to help the strangers trapped alongside him.

Anato

Anato is a researcher from the Land of Valleys employed by Victor's medical manufacturing company. After being injected with the First Hokage's cells, the mild scientist mutates into a rampaging beast, setting Konoha's Team 7 on his trail at the plea of his wife, Mia.

Anbu Commander

The Anbu Commander is, by all appearances, the officer at the head of Konohagakure's Anbu. A monkey-masked veteran, he stood beside the Third Hokage against Orochimaru and later helped coordinate the village's defence through Pain's devastating assault.

Aniki

This Aniki is a short-tempered missing-nin and former genin who abandons any mission he dislikes. Cruel and greedy, he leads the underlings Oppo and Teru, wields Fire Release, and sinks low enough to plot selling the Seventh Hokage's kidnapped daughter, Himawari, on the black market.

Aniki

Aniki leads the Moya Triad, three self-styled ninja who spend more effort chasing women than practicing their craft. The brightest of a hopeless bunch, he holds a grudge against Kakashi Hatake and cooks up laughably hazardous poisons in his fumbling pursuit of payback.

Anko Mitarashi

A special jonin who instructs at Konohagakure's Academy, Anko Mitarashi carries the scars of having once trained under Orochimaru. Brash, sweet-toothed, and fearless, she survived his cursed seal experiment and turned an old admiration for him into a lifelong resolve to end his crimes.

Ankorodō Shop Owner

The elderly proprietor of the Ankorodo sweets shop in Konohagakure is a retired kunoichi who once nearly lost her business to Choji Akimichi's bottomless appetite. Terrified of bankruptcy, she schemes to keep him from winning an eating contest, dusting off a long-forgotten mochi jutsu to do it.

Ao

Once an Anbu hunter-nin of Kirigakure and the Fifth Mizukage's trusted right hand, Ao earned hero status before the Fourth Shinobi World War left him broken. Rebuilt with cybernetics and disillusioned with peace, he secretly served the organisation Kara as an Outer.

Aoba Yamashiro

A tokubetsu jonin of Konohagakure, Aoba Yamashiro is a seasoned all-rounder known for his red sunglasses and cool head. He specialises in gathering intelligence, reading minds, and commanding swarms of crows, serving on frontline missions from the Chunin Exams through the Fourth Shinobi World War.
