Shugesh

Yes. Shugesh is a Saiyan warrior and a member of Bardock's elite squad, known as Team Bardock. He is one of four Saiyan fighters who serve under Bardock on planet-conquering missions for the Frieza Force.

Shugesh is known as Pumbukin in the original Japanese version. Like the rest of Team Bardock, his name follows the Saiyan vegetable-pun convention, with Pumbukin derived from the Japanese word for pumpkin.

Shugesh is killed during Dodoria's ambush on Planet Meat. After Team Bardock finishes its mission on Planet Kanassa, Shugesh and the rest of the squad are sent ahead to Planet Meat, where Dodoria and his elite soldiers, acting on Frieza's orders to eliminate Bardock's crew, overwhelm and kill them.

Team Bardock is Bardock's elite four-Saiyan squad, with Shugesh as one of its members. The team is set up to die as the catalyst for Bardock's doomed, solitary last stand against Frieza after Bardock receives visions of the future from a Kanassan psychic attack.

Shugesh serves as a reliable, boisterous heavyset fighter on Team Bardock, contributing to their planet-clearing assignments under Frieza's command. His main narrative function is to be slaughtered with the rest of the team on Planet Meat, which triggers Bardock's final confrontation with Frieza.
