Goku takes on General Blue in a fierce showdown inside the crumbling Pirate Cave, breaking free from Blue's psychic hold thanks to a tiny mouse before diving deep to recover the Dragon Ball.
Goku wastes no time confronting General Blue after witnessing Krillin's defeat. Blue flexes his muscles with his Pump Up technique, but Goku dismisses him as nothing more than a big balloon. The initial exchange goes back and forth until Goku lands a devastating upper kick to Blue's jaw, loosening a tooth and further enraging the vain general.
Blue resorts to his Psychic Eyes once again, freezing Goku in place and beating him mercilessly. With the cave already shaking apart, Blue pulls out a shotgun from a capsule and presses it against Goku's head, demanding to know where the Dragon Ball is hidden. Bulma, terrified, reveals the ball is somewhere in the nearby pool.
Just as Blue prepares to execute Goku, a small mouse scurries past. Blue's intense phobia of rodents breaks his concentration, freeing Goku from the psychic hold. When Blue tries the technique again, Goku pokes him directly in the eyes and follows up with a punch that slams the general into a wall. With Blue unconscious, Goku dives into the deep pool and recovers the Three-Star Dragon Ball from among the pirate treasure, while the cave collapses around them all.
The moment where a tiny mouse breaks General Blue's concentration is both hilarious and pivotal. Blue's phobia of rodents, so extreme that it shatters his psychic focus, saves Goku's life and turns the entire battle on its head. When Blue attempts to use the technique a second time, Goku's eye-poke counter is perfectly timed and brutally effective.
With the Pirate Cave collapsing in massive chunks, Goku makes the daring choice to dive into a deep well rather than escape. He discovers the Three-Star Dragon Ball resting among the full pirate treasure but only grabs the ball, leaving a fortune behind without a second thought. Meanwhile, Blue briefly regains consciousness and sees the treasure, dreaming of keeping it for himself before being buried in rubble.
This episode reveals a critical weakness in General Blue's seemingly unstoppable Psychic Eyes: any break in his concentration nullifies the technique entirely. This vulnerability, exposed by a mouse of all things, will prove relevant in future confrontations.
Goku's refusal to take the pirate treasure despite having every opportunity reflects his pure-hearted nature. He only cares about the Dragon Ball, staying true to his mission of finding his grandfather's keepsake. This is also the first episode to use music from the Curse of the Blood Rubies film.
