The Four-Star Dragon

EpisodeEp. 54

With four Dragon Balls recovered, Goku and Pan face Nuova Shenron, the Four-Star Dragon of Fire. His body reaches temperatures hotter than the sun, making physical attacks dangerous. When Pan is knocked out, Nuova spares her life, hinting at an honor code unlike any previous Shadow Dragon. Meanwhile, a second dragon lurks in the shadows.

The Warrior of Flame

Giru locates the next Dragon Ball in a nearby city, where Nuova Shenron awaits. Pan, overconfident from four straight victories, charges in alone and is instantly knocked unconscious. Goku demands that Nuova put Pan down, but the fire dragon quietly places her out of harm's way, sparing her life without being asked. He reveals that the wish that created him was when the evil King Piccolo wished for his youth to be restored.

Goku and Nuova begin their battle, and Goku quickly discovers a severe problem. The dragon's body generates temperatures beyond even the sun. Punching him burns Goku's hand, and kicking him threatens to melt his feet. Every physical strike carries a painful cost.

Solar Powered

Goku ducks into a building to plan a counterattack, but Nuova stays on him relentlessly. When they return outside, Goku learns that Nuova draws energy directly from the sun, giving him a limitless power supply. Goku tries a Solar Flare, but the blinding light does nothing to a dragon made of fire.

Nuova cracks open his outer shell and accesses his full power, prompting Goku to answer with Super Saiyan 4. The true battle between fire and Saiyan power is about to begin. Meanwhile, Giru watches over the unconscious Pan when another Shadow Dragon attacks from the darkness, stealing the collected Dragon Balls and injuring Pan further.

A Lurking Threat

The identity of Pan's attacker remains unclear, but the stolen Dragon Balls represent a devastating setback. Giru is damaged in the ambush, and Pan lies battered on the ground. Everything the group has fought to collect is now in enemy hands, and Goku does not yet know what has happened behind his back.

Nuova Shenron stands out among the Shadow Dragons for his willingness to fight with honor, sparing the innocent and facing opponents directly. But the arrival of a second dragon in the shadows signals that the battles ahead will not be so clean. Episode 54 sets the stage for a collision of fire, ice, and Saiyan pride.
