Super Saiyan God (Race)

Race

A righteous subspecies of Saiyans descended from the original Super Saiyan God. They waged a long war against the wicked Ancient Saiyans but knew almost nothing but defeat, earning the name "the defeated." Their bloodline survived through twin descendants Shallot and Giblet.

Born from Divine Fire

The Super Saiyan Gods are not merely warriors who achieved a transformation. They constitute a distinct heroic subspecies of the Saiyan race, tracing their lineage directly back to the original Super Saiyan God, a Saiyan who first tapped into the divine crimson power that would define his descendants for generations.

This progenitor fought against the evil Ancient Saiyans in a conflict that predates nearly every event in Dragon Ball's recorded history. Though he perished in that battle, his bloodline carried forward, producing offspring who inherited both his righteous nature and the potential to access godly ki.

Physical Characteristics

In their base forms, members of the Super Saiyan God race appear identical to ordinary Saiyans: humanoid in build with dark hair and similar heights to Earthlings. Their diet is omnivorous, consistent with standard Saiyan biology. What distinguishes them is not visible to the eye but embedded in their cells: the genetic potential to achieve the Super Saiyan God transformation as a birthright rather than through the ritual that modern Saiyans require.

A Legacy of Righteous Defeat

The history of the Super Saiyan Gods is defined by a paradox. They were among the most powerful Saiyans to ever live, yet their record against the wicked Saiyans was dismal. Throughout their long existence as a faction, they achieved only a single victory. This devastating track record earned them the bitter title of "the defeated," a name passed down through their own descendants.

The evil Ancient Saiyans eventually succeeded in wiping out the Super Saiyan Gods entirely. Yet their extinction was not absolute. Descendants carrying the divine bloodline survived, scattered and perhaps unaware of their full heritage. Among these were twin brothers named Shallot and Giblet, who trained relentlessly in the hope of one day achieving the Super Saiyan God form they viewed as their birthright.

The Twin Legacy

Shallot and Giblet represent the most significant continuation of this subspecies. Both eventually achieved the Super Saiyan God transformation, with Shallot becoming the first member of the bloodline to reach the even more advanced Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan form. Their story, told through Dragon Ball Legends, reintroduced this ancient conflict into the broader Dragon Ball narrative.

Divine Blood in Modern Cells

The Super Saiyan God bloodline has left traces beyond its direct descendants. New Cell, an artificial creation who incorporated Shallot's cells into his biology, technically carries fragments of this divine genetic material. His offspring, the New Cell Juniors, inherit this connection as well, making them partial members of the subspecies through artificial means.

The fusion warrior Shallet, created from the merging of the twin descendants, represents the bloodline at its most concentrated. These various branches, whether natural descendants or artificial incorporations, demonstrate that the legacy of the original Super Saiyan God has proven far more durable than the "defeated" nickname would suggest.

Notable Members

The original Super Saiyan God stands as the progenitor. Shallot and Giblet, his twin descendants, carried the subspecies into the modern era. Through Shallot's cells, New Cell and the New Cell Juniors became artificial partial members of this ancient lineage.
