The Warriors in Black

Dark Dragon Ball Enhancement is a unique power-up that originated during the Super Space-Time Tournament arc of Super Dragon Ball Heroes. It is achieved when a fighter has their latent potential unlocked through a wish made to Dark Shenron, the corrupted Eternal Dragon summoned from the Dark Dragon Balls. Unlike most dark power-ups in the franchise, this enhancement does not appear to corrupt the user's personality or place them under external control. Instead, it functions more like a permanent potential unlock with a distinctly sinister energy signature.

The technique is most closely associated with the Warriors in Black, a group led by the mysterious Warrior in Black, later revealed to be Xeno Bardock. Through his wish to Dark Shenron, all members of the group received this enhancement simultaneously, granting them a shared power-up that served as the foundation for their combat abilities during the tournament.

Visually, the enhancement manifests as a dark crimson and black flame-like aura that closely resembles the Evil Aura. The user's physical appearance remains unchanged beneath this aura, distinguishing it from more invasive transformations like Villainous Mode or the Supervillain state, which alter the target's skin color and eye appearance.

Stacking with Super Saiyan

One of the most significant properties of Dark Dragon Ball Enhancement is its compatibility with the Super Saiyan transformation line. Because the enhancement functions as a baseline potential unlock rather than a competing transformation, Saiyan users can freely layer Super Saiyan forms on top of it for multiplicative power gains.

The Future Warrior in Black demonstrated this by combining the enhancement with Super Saiyan during his confrontation with Xeno Trunks, who was fighting in his Super Saiyan God form. The fact that this combination allowed him to compete with a god-tier transformation speaks to the potency of the underlying enhancement. He later escalated to Super Saiyan 2 during a battle with Demigra.

The Warrior in Black (Xeno Bardock) pushed this stacking even further, applying Super Saiyan 3 alongside the Dark Dragon Ball Enhancement to battle against Jiren and Ultra Instinct Sign Goku simultaneously. This represents one of the most extreme applications of the enhancement, demonstrating that even the enormous energy drain of Super Saiyan 3 can be sustained when built upon the Dark Dragon Ball foundation.

The enhancement has also been shown to stack with Super Saiyan 4, though the specific combat applications of this combination have been less extensively depicted. The ability to combine with any level of Super Saiyan suggests that Dark Dragon Ball Enhancement operates on a fundamentally different energy layer than the Saiyan transformations, allowing both to function simultaneously without interference.
