Evil Containment Wave Reflection

Technique

A counter-technique that reverses the Evil Containment Wave back at its caster, sealing them instead. Piccolo invented it to neutralize the one technique that had defeated his father.

Turning the Seal Around

The Evil Containment Wave Reflection does exactly what its name implies. When someone attempts the Mafuba on the user, the reflection technique intercepts the spiraling vortex and redirects it, catching the original caster in their own sealing wave and trapping them inside the container instead. It requires precise timing and awareness that the Evil Containment Wave is being used, meaning the user must either anticipate the technique or react quickly enough to reverse it mid-execution. The reflected wave retains all the sealing properties of the original, so the trapped caster suffers the same fate they intended for their target.

Piccolo Swallows the Bottle

Piccolo developed this counter specifically to protect himself against the technique that had imprisoned his father, King Piccolo, years earlier. During the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament, Kami possessed the body of a human fighter named Hero and attempted to seal Piccolo away with the Evil Containment Wave. Piccolo was ready. He reversed the wave with the Mafuba Gaeshi, trapping Kami inside the container instead. To make absolutely certain no one could free Kami and use the technique again, Piccolo swallowed the bottle whole. With Kami trapped inside his stomach, Goku could not simply break the container to free the Guardian of Earth without killing Piccolo, and killing Piccolo would kill Kami due to their shared life link.

Frost's Dirty Trick

The reflection technique resurfaced during the Tournament of Power when Frost of Universe 6 used it against Master Roshi. After watching Roshi successfully seal Dercori in a bottle and toss her off the arena, Frost studied the technique and waited for his opportunity. When Roshi tried to use the Evil Containment Wave on Magetta, Frost jumped in and reflected it onto Vegeta instead, sealing the Saiyan Prince inside Roshi's own bottle. Before Frost could throw the bottle off the arena, Roshi shattered it with a Turtle Orb, freeing an absolutely furious Vegeta. Frost wisely chose to flee rather than face the newly liberated prince.
