Lightning Shower Rain

The Lightning Shower Rain is one of the most visually unique attacks in Dragon Ball, fitting for one of its most visually unique villains. Super Janemba performs the technique by tracing a line of green energy through the air with his finger, as if drawing on an invisible canvas. The energy trail then fractures into dozens of sharp, glass-like needles that hang suspended in midair. With a sweep of his arm, Janemba launches the entire volley at his target, each needle carrying enough force to impale and detonate on impact.

The crystalline nature of the attack sets it apart from standard Ki Blasts. Rather than raw energy projectiles, these needles behave more like physical objects made of solidified ki, giving them cutting and piercing properties that conventional energy blasts lack. The technique reflects Janemba's nature as a being of warped reality, capable of reshaping the rules of combat.

In Fusion Reborn, Super Janemba used the Lightning Shower Rain during his battle against Goku and Vegeta. After using his Mystic Attack to stretch his arm and strangle Vegeta, Goku freed his rival and the two Saiyans ducked behind a mountain of crystalline spikes for cover. While Goku desperately tried to convince the stubborn Vegeta to perform the Fusion Dance, Janemba fired the Lightning Shower Rain at their hiding spot.

The barrage of energy needles tore into the spike formation, and Goku and Vegeta barely dodged with only a few cuts. The attack served as a ticking clock for one of the film's most tense sequences, forcing the two proud Saiyans to finally cooperate. Without the pressure of the Lightning Shower Rain destroying their cover, Vegeta might never have agreed to fuse, and Gogeta would never have been born.

Despite Janemba's limited screen time in a single film, the Lightning Shower Rain made enough of an impression to become a staple in Dragon Ball video games. It appears in the Budokai Tenkaichi series, Raging Blast games, and Xenoverse 2, where it is classified as a Continuous Energy Bullet type super skill. In Xenoverse 2, the technique is named Dimension Ray and can be learned by the player character, bringing Janemba's unique fighting style into the hands of custom warriors.

The technique also found its way into Dragon Ball Fusions and Dragon Ball Legends, cementing its place as one of the more recognizable movie-exclusive attacks. For a villain who existed in only one film, Janemba left behind one of the franchise's most creative and visually memorable techniques.
