Creation and the Buu Crisis

Kibito Kai came into existence during one of Universe 7's darkest hours. When Old Kai gave Goku the Potara earrings as a means to defeat Super Buu, Shin and Kibito demonstrated the fusion technique first, inadvertently merging themselves in the process. At the time, Potara Fusion was believed to be permanent, and the two became a single being who combined Shin's face, voice, and divine authority with Kibito's taller stature and longer hair.

Rather than being dismayed by the seemingly irreversible fusion, Kibito Kai embraced his new form. He felt stronger and more confident, even volunteering to fight alongside Goku against Super Buu. While his actual combat power was not sufficient for that particular battle, his willingness reflected a boldness that neither Shin nor Kibito displayed on their own.

During the final showdown with Kid Buu, Kibito Kai used his Instantaneous Movement technique to help evacuate survivors and assist the Z Fighters from the sidelines. His ability to teleport across the universe proved invaluable for coordinating the effort to destroy Buu once and for all.

Life After Fusion and Eventual Separation

Following the defeat of Buu, Kibito Kai continued serving as Supreme Kai of Universe 7 from the Sacred World of the Kai. He maintained Shin's earnest concern for mortal affairs and developed a particular admiration for Earth and its people, especially after witnessing their ability to handle the threat posed by Beerus during the God of Destruction's visit.

Despite his divine position, Kibito Kai retained a certain naivety about the universe that Old Kai frequently chided him for. He approached his responsibilities with genuine care but sometimes lacked the wisdom that comes with deeper experience. Old Kai served as both mentor and critic, keeping Kibito Kai grounded in the realities of divine governance.

In Dragon Ball Super, it was revealed that Kibito Kai used the Namekian Dragon Balls to separate back into Shin and Kibito, disproving the long-held belief that Potara Fusion was truly permanent. This separation allowed both individuals to resume their original roles, with Shin continuing as Supreme Kai and Kibito returning to his duties as attendant.
