Karasu

Towering and broad-shouldered, Karasu cuts a bald, pale figure whose whole look leans into a crow motif. The lower portion of a plague-doctor mask covers part of his face and doubles as a built-in loudspeaker. He throws on a dark coat of feathers that hangs open over his bare chest, pairs it with dark trousers, and loops a sash at his neck, all evoking the dress of the Beast Pirates.

A man of principle, Karasu holds particular contempt for anyone who preys on the defenseless. He is reserved to the point that his ordinary speech comes out as a barely audible mumble, which is exactly why his mask amplifies him so others can follow what he says. People who mock that mumbling tend to anger him quickly, as Peachbeard learned when veins stood out on the commander's forehead. For all his seriousness, he is also absent-minded, on occasion forgetting to switch the speaker on at all.

His rank as an executive grants him command over every soldier in the North Army, and the World Government's 400,000,000 berry price on his head marks him as a genuine danger. He proved his skill by trading blows on equal footing with Admiral Fujitora, helped along by fighting on terrain that favored him, and he wields both Armament and Observation Haki. His true edge comes from the Susu Susu no Mi, a Logia fruit that lets him generate, steer, and become soot. He typically shapes that soot into a swarm of crows or bursts his body apart into one. The birds fly at great speed, ferry messages and newspapers to allies, can each carry a person, and in combat strip weapons from foes or strike them directly. He also molds the soot into structures and uses it to take flight even without forming wings.
