Biography and Story Role

South Kai is responsible for training and overseeing the warriors of the South Area in Universe 7. Unlike the well-known rivalry between North Kai and West Kai, South Kai tends to stay above the bickering, though he clearly finds their competitive squabbles entertaining. He and East Kai often enjoy watching the two rivals go at each other.

His fighters include Caterpy, Froug, Torbie, Papoi, Chapuchai, Maraikoh, and Mijorin. South Kai emphasizes a defensive fighting style in his training, and his students performed respectably in the Other World Tournament. Froug reached the quarter-finals, while Torbie advanced to the semi-finals before falling to Pikkon.

South Kai cheered for Pikkon against North Kai's fighters simply to irritate his northern counterpart. He also played a comedic role in the Fusion Reborn film, jokingly suggesting that the botched fusion of Goku and Vegeta should be called "Veku" and pointing out that the failed warrior was even heavier than North Kai.
