Appearance

King towers at an enormous 613 centimeters, with a broad-shouldered, well-muscled build and long limbs. As a Lunarian he bears the markers of that vanished people: large black-feathered wings that hang to his knees, dark brown skin, and silver-white hair shaved at the sides yet kept long on top, gathered behind his head with a few sidelocks and a thin braid trailing along the right of his face. His narrow red eyes, dark brows, and squared, stubbly chin define his features, and a tattoo shaped like a laurel branch curves around the outer edge of his left eye. A plume of fire constantly streams from his upper back, another trait of his bloodline, though it can flicker out at times. To bury his identity he seals himself in a skin-covering leather suit topped by a full-faced mask studded with horn-like spikes, leaving only his eyes exposed. When he shifts into his pteranodon shape, pterosaur wings take the place of his feathered ones.

Personality

Reserved and difficult to read, King keeps his composure through nearly any crisis, a calm aided by the mask he never removes. He says little but readily belittles his fellow All-Stars whenever he judges them to have come up short. Acting as his captain's second, he makes major decisions under pressure without waiting to be told, once moving on his own to bar Big Mom and her crew from setting foot in Wano, and later flatly refusing her invitation to join her. He guards his concealed heritage fiercely: when his mask took damage during the duel with Roronoa Zoro, he flew into a silent rage that struck allies and enemies alike, and he killed underlings who caught sight of his face. Even so, he takes pride in the biological might of his race.

Abilities

Ranking directly below Kaidou, King holds authority over the whole crew and steps in as field commander whenever his leader is occupied, directing the Tobiroppo and the troops during the assault on Onigashima. His bounty of 1,390,000,000 berries reflects the dread he inspires. Recruited as Kaidou's very first follower more than three decades earlier, he earned the name "King" through sheer strength even in his youth, and he is counted among the crew's "calamities" for the destruction his pyrokinetic gifts can unleash. He devoured the Ryu Ryu no Mi, an Ancient Zoan power of the Pteranodon model that lets him turn into a prehistoric flying reptile and a hybrid of it. In combat he held firm against Marco, later fighting two against one without tiring, and pushed Zoro to his limits before finally falling.
