In the Taisho era, kindhearted Tanjiro Kamado supports his mountain family by selling charcoal. Returning home one dawn, he finds them slaughtered by a demon. Only his sister Nezuko survives, but she has become a demon, and a passing swordsman moves to end her.

Following Giyu's direction, Tanjiro carries the demon-cursed Nezuko toward Mount Sagiri. Along the way they confront a flesh-eating creature in a temple, and a masked stranger arrives to weigh whether the gentle boy is fit to train as a slayer.

Tanjiro's path toward the Corps begins under Sakonji Urokodaki, who pushes him through a brutal year on the mountain. Two masked spirits, Sabito and Makomo, then refine his swordsmanship and breathing until he can finally face an impossible final test.

Tanjiro completes his training with Urokodaki and enters Final Selection on Mount Fujikasane, surviving a seven-day trial where he confronts an ancient morphed demon that murdered his fellow trainees Sabito and Makomo.

Tanjiro ends the Hand Demon and frees the trapped souls of Urokodaki's fallen students. With Final Selection over, the survivors are inducted into the Corps, choose ore for their swords, and Tanjiro receives a blade that turns an unexpected color.

Now wearing the Corps uniform and carrying a sleeping Nezuko in a daytime box, Tanjiro takes his first job in a northern town where young women keep disappearing at night, and his nose soon leads him to a demon that hides inside swamp water.

With Nezuko fighting at his side, Tanjiro finishes off the Swamp Demon and its clones, then travels to the bright streets of Asakusa for his next mission, only to come face to face with the very demon who destroyed his family: Muzan Kibutsuji.

After Muzan slips away in Asakusa, two unusual demons step forward to help Tanjiro: the doctor Tamayo and her sharp-tongued assistant Yushiro, who reveal a possible path to turning Nezuko human again just as Muzan's hunters close in.

Two of Muzan's servants, the ball-throwing Susamaru and the direction-bending Yahaba, lay siege to Tamayo's hidden house, forcing Tanjiro and Nezuko into their toughest fight yet against members of the Twelve Kizuki.

The tenth anime episode brings the Asakusa clash to its close as Tanjiro pushes through the Arrow Demon's last assault while Nezuko and Tamayo turn the tide against Susamaru, and the cost of serving Muzan becomes brutally clear.

Tanjiro meets the cowardly Zenitsu on the road, and the pair follow their next mission to a forest manor where rooms shift to the beat of a drum, frightened children wait outside, and a masked boar-headed swordsman crashes into the fight.

Inside the shifting manor, Inosuke trades blows with Tanjiro and the Drum Demon, Zenitsu fights in his sleep to save a child, and Kyogai's bitter human past as a scorned writer is revealed as the threat of rare blood looms.

Battered and broken, Tanjiro finds the rhythm to finally fell Kyogai, who weeps as his art is at last praised. Outside, Zenitsu takes a beating shielding Nezuko's box, and an enraged Tanjiro charges the masked swordsman to defend his friend.

Tanjiro's clash with the masked swordsman ends in a headbutt that knocks off the boar mask, revealing Inosuke Hashibira. The trio recover at a wisteria-marked house, but the night turns when Nezuko emerges and Zenitsu sees her for the first time.

The trio's next mission leads to a web-choked mountain where slain Corps members are puppeted on strings. Tanjiro and Inosuke fight to free their controlled comrades as a spider demon family and a chilling child-like demon watch from the trees.

Pressed by Rui, the Mother Spider Demon drives her puppets to fight harder and then snaps their necks. Tanjiro and Inosuke learn to throw the controlled slayers into the branches, and a gentle final strike grants the dying demon the peace she longed for.

Poisoned and alone, Zenitsu faces the human-headed Son Spider Demon and finds his courage in memories of the trainer who never gave up on him, mastering his one form to win. Tanjiro and Inosuke, meanwhile, come face to face with the towering Father.

On Mount Natagumo, Tanjiro and Inosuke confront the giant patriarch of the Spider Family while a wounded Zenitsu fights off poison. Hurled into the forest, Tanjiro stumbles onto Rui abusing his demon sister and openly calls their bond a lie.

Hashira arrive on Mount Natagumo as Giyu fells the Spider patriarch in one stroke. Cornered by Rui's blood threads with Nezuko bleeding above him, Tanjiro recalls his father's fire dance and ignites a brand new technique to behead the Lower Rank.

Rui survives his beheading and corners the exhausted Tanjiro, only for Giyu to step in and finish him. The episode explores the Spider Family's origins through Daughter's memories, while Shinobu hunts the fleeing Daughter and kills her with wisteria poison.

Rui's dying memories reveal the sickly child who became a demon and was hunted by his own parents. As Tanjiro shows the demon compassion, Giyu intervenes to protect Nezuko from Shinobu, and headquarters orders the siblings taken into custody.

Tanjiro is put on trial by the nine Hashira for traveling with a demon. As they argue over Nezuko's fate, the Wind Hashira Sanemi cuts his own arm to provoke her, and the Corps leader Kagaya Ubuyashiki finally arrives to weigh in.

Nezuko proves her restraint by turning away from Sanemi's blood, and the master tasks Tanjiro with defeating a Twelve Kizuki to win the Hashira's trust. The siblings are sent to recover at the Butterfly Mansion as the Corps leader vows to destroy Muzan.

Recovering at Shinobu's mansion, Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu face grueling rehabilitation drills they cannot win against Kanao. Tanjiro works to sustain Total Concentration Breathing day and night, and Shinobu shares the grief that fuels her smile.

Recovering at the Butterfly Mansion, Tanjiro pushes himself to hold his breathing technique around the clock. His steady effort drags a reluctant Zenitsu and Inosuke back into training, while a flipped coin reveals the painful history of his quiet sparring partner, Kanao.

As training wraps up, Muzan summons the Lower Ranks and culls them in a fury, sparing only one. Tanjiro takes his leave of the mansion, gives Kanao a reason to follow her own heart, and boards the Mugen Train with his friends as the first season ends.

Ordered to investigate the Mugen Train, the Flame Hashira tracks a marked demon terrorizing a station town. Kyojuro saves a young bento seller and her grandmother, dispatches the killer, and senses that something far worse still lurks aboard the train itself.

The trio finally meet Kyojuro aboard the Mugen Train and watch him fell two demons with ease. But as night settles in, a hidden enemy lulls every passenger and slayer into slumber, trapping Tanjiro in a tender dream of the family he lost.

Each slayer drifts through a private dream while Enmu's helpers slip toward their spiritual cores. Tanjiro savors a fleeting reunion with his family, then forces himself to accept their loss, and with Nezuko's help he reaches for the only way out: to wake.

Tanjiro wakes by severing his own neck in the dream and frees the others from Enmu's spell. He confronts the demon directly, repeatedly killing himself to escape the hypnosis, only to learn too late that Enmu has merged his body with the entire train.

With Enmu grafted to the train, hundreds of passengers become hostages. The newly woken slayers split the defense between them, and Tanjiro and Inosuke push toward the demon's hidden neck bone for the killing blow as the spell keeps dragging Tanjiro under.

The sixth chapter of season two opens in the wreckage left by the train, where Tanjiro and Inosuke survive Enmu's final collapse only to meet a far deadlier foe. As Lower One fades, an Upper Rank steps out of the dust and offers Rengoku a terrible bargain.

Rengoku's duel with Akaza reaches its end as the Flame Hashira pours everything into a final stand. Bleeding and outmatched by regeneration, he refuses to fall while a single passenger remains at risk, and his last words ripple across the entire Corps.

Grief gives way to a fresh mission as Tanjiro carries Rengoku's last words to the Flame family home and meets a bitter, drunken father. Months later, a flamboyant new Hashira storms the Butterfly Mansion and sweeps the boys toward the city of pleasure where demons hide.

Tengen leads the boys into the glittering night of Yoshiwara to find his three missing wives. Disguised as girls and slipped into separate houses, Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke begin quietly gathering clues while a hidden danger watches from within the walls.

Suspicion turns to confrontation across all three houses as the boys close in on the hidden demon. Inosuke storms a wrecked room, and Zenitsu follows the sound of crying straight into the lair of an oiran whose beauty masks an Upper Rank.

With Zenitsu vanished and Tengen urging retreat, Tanjiro chooses to stay and fight. When Daki reveals herself in the Tokito House and seizes Koinatsu, he draws his blade and accepts that he must face Upper Rank Six on his own.

Tengen reaches his ailing wife and turns to hunt the demon below ground, while Tanjiro abandons Water Breathing for the Hinokami Kagura against Daki. Beneath the houses, Inosuke uncovers Daki's hoard of victims, and the scattered team finally converges.

Daki reclaims her scattered sashes and grows far stronger, turning her attacks on the district's people. As Tanjiro's rage drives him onward and his body finally fails him, his sister rises to stand between Daki and his life.

Nezuko's demon side surges as she overwhelms Daki, then turns on innocent bystanders until Tanjiro restrains her. Tengen beheads Daki, but a second demon erupts from her body, revealing that Upper Six is in fact two siblings: Gyutaro and Daki.

Tengen fights both siblings while Gyutaro's poison slowly drains him, reflecting on his shinobi past and Kagaya's kindness. Tanjiro, Inosuke, and a recovered Zenitsu arrive to help, and the separate clashes fuse into one chaotic battle.

A wisteria-laced strike briefly cripples Gyutaro, but the slayers' attacks fall short and he seizes Hinatsuru. Tanjiro fuses two breathing styles to rescue her, while Inosuke finally beheads Daki only to be stabbed from behind by her brother.

Tanjiro lures Gyutaro into a poisoned trap while a revived Tengen and the others press the attack. Awakening his Demon Slayer Mark, Tanjiro pushes his failing body forward as the slayers move to behead both siblings at once.

Nezuko's flames spare everyone from Gyutaro's final blast and burn the poison from her allies. As the siblings fade, Gyutaro's tragic history surfaces, and the pair reconcile while news of the first Upper Rank death in a century spreads.

The first Upper Rank death in a century rattles both the Corps and Muzan's demons, who gather in the Infinity Castle. Recovering at the Butterfly Mansion, Tanjiro learns his angry swordsmith has refused him a new blade and sets out for the hidden Swordsmith Village.

Tanjiro steps between Muichiro and the young smith Kotetsu over a key that operates an ancient combat doll. Encouraged to keep going, Tanjiro trains against the six-armed Yoriichi Type Zero and awakens a new perceptive ability.

The third entry of season three uncovers an ancient blade hidden inside the training doll, introduces the muscular swordsmith Hotaru, and ends with two Upper Rank demons striking at the Swordsmith Village while Tanjiro and Muichiro scramble to respond.

Muichiro saves Kotetsu and chooses to rescue the trapped swordsmiths, while Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Genya fight Hantengu's four split bodies. The battle grinds on as the siblings are eventually buried and Mitsuri races toward the embattled village.

Mitsuri arrives to rescue the village chief, Muichiro confronts Gyokko and his horrific creation, and Nezuko's blood turns Tanjiro's sword crimson, letting him fell Hantengu's three split forms in a single dragon-shaped strike.

Tanjiro hunts for a hidden fifth demon controlling Hantengu's clones while a trapped Muichiro nears death against Gyokko. A long flashback reveals the tragedy of Genya and Sanemi Shinazugawa's childhood and the death of their demon-transformed mother.
