The mysterious teenager reveals himself as a Super Saiyan and systematically dismantles Mecha Frieza, slicing the tyrant to pieces before incinerating the remains. He then dispatches King Cold with equal efficiency, destroying the Cold family's ship for good measure. The stranger invites the stunned Z Fighters to join him in greeting Goku.
Frieza dismisses the teenager as a nuisance, but the boy knows exactly who he is dealing with. He challenges Frieza to use his full power, claiming he will not go as easy on the tyrant as Goku did on Namek. Frieza scoffs at the threat until the boy's hair turns golden and his eyes shift to green. A second Super Saiyan has appeared, sending shockwaves of ki across the landscape that every Z Fighter on the nearby mountain can feel.
Vegeta is stunned and furious. He and Goku were supposed to be the only Saiyans capable of this transformation. Gohan recognizes the energy signature as identical to his father's Super Saiyan aura. The mystery of this teenager's identity deepens with every passing second.
The battle is swift and one-sided. Frieza launches his most powerful attacks, including a planet-destroying Supernova, but the teenager handles each one with contemptuous ease. He catches the Supernova overhead, tanks its detonation, and then ambushes Frieza from above. With a single clean stroke of his sword, he cleaves the cyborg tyrant in half, then dices the remains into pieces and vaporizes everything with a blast of energy. Frieza is destroyed permanently.
King Cold attempts to salvage the situation through cunning rather than force. He offers the boy a place in his family, hoping to recruit the young Super Saiyan to his side. When flattery fails, Cold requests to examine the boy's sword, suspecting the weapon is the true source of his power.
The teenager obliges, tossing the blade over. Cold tests its edge approvingly, then swings it at the boy in a sudden attack. The attempt fails completely. The teenager catches the blade with his bare hand, reclaims his weapon, and fires a devastating energy blast through Cold's chest. When the fallen king begs for mercy, the boy vaporizes him without hesitation and destroys the spaceship for good measure.
With both threats eliminated, the mysterious fighter powers down and approaches the Z Fighters. He tells them that Goku will arrive at a specific location within a few hours and invites them to come along. His foreknowledge of Goku's return baffles everyone, particularly Piccolo and Vegeta, who cannot reconcile the boy's incredible power with his complete anonymity.
Tien voices what everyone is thinking: anyone who can destroy Frieza that easily and somehow knows when Goku is coming cannot be an enemy. The group decides to follow, beginning one of the most pivotal revelations in the series.
