A Bittersweet Victory! Until We Meet Again!

The dust settles on the Cell Games battlefield, and the surviving Z Fighters gather around an exhausted Gohan. Yamcha carries the unconscious boy as the group heads to the Lookout, while Mr. Satan, left behind at the ruined arena, seizes the opportunity to claim credit for Cell's defeat. His announcement to the television cameras that the whole thing was "cheap tricks" begins a lie that will reshape public perception for years to come.

At the Lookout, Dende heals Gohan and the others. The group summons Shenron and uses the first wish to revive everyone killed by Cell. Future Trunks gasps back to life before their eyes, whole and restored. But when the Z Fighters look around for Goku, he is nowhere to be found. Shenron explains that Goku cannot be revived again, as he has already been resurrected once before by Earth's Dragon Balls.

Krillin suggests wishing to travel to New Namek, where Porunga could bypass the restriction. But before anyone can act on this plan, Goku's voice reaches them from Other World. He has something to say.

Goku tells his friends and family that he has decided to stay dead. His reasoning is both selfless and characteristically matter-of-fact. He acknowledges that Bulma was right: his extraordinary power acts as a magnet for threats. The Red Ribbon Army, the Saiyans, Frieza, Cell. Every major crisis Earth has faced can be traced back to someone targeting Goku or seeking to surpass him. Without Goku on Earth, the planet may finally know genuine peace.

He expresses absolute confidence that Gohan will grow into a worthy protector in his absence. He says goodbye to his friends with warmth rather than sadness, promising to see them again someday in the afterlife. The farewell is pure Goku: optimistic, slightly oblivious to the grief he is causing, and completely sincere. His friends accept his decision with heavy hearts, recognizing that they cannot force him to return.

With the second wish still available, Krillin steps forward with an unexpected request. He asks Shenron to turn Androids 17 and 18 into humans. The wish is beyond Shenron's power, but Krillin quickly pivots and asks instead for the self-destruct devices inside their bodies to be removed. Shenron grants this, and somewhere in the world, two androids become slightly more free.

Android 18, who has been hiding nearby and witnessed everything, confronts Krillin before leaving. She offers no gratitude, only a curt "See you later" that carries more warmth than she would ever admit. The seeds of a relationship that will eventually produce a family are planted in this single, understated exchange. Future Trunks departs the next day, heading back to his own timeline with the strength to finally set things right.
