Super Saiyan Goku engages Android 19, initially dominating the fight. However, the heart virus Trunks warned about strikes mid-battle, sapping Goku's strength at the worst possible moment. Android 19 absorbs Goku's Kamehameha energy and presses the advantage as Goku collapses, leaving Piccolo to intervene.
The fighters relocate to a rocky wasteland far from Sasebo's civilian population. It is here that Android 20 reveals the truth behind their creation. Dr. Gero spent years deploying microscopic spy robots to analyze Goku's fighting techniques, cataloging his abilities and developing countermeasures. The research was motivated by revenge for Goku's destruction of the Red Ribbon Army during his childhood.
There is a critical gap in Gero's data, however. The surveillance ended before Goku traveled to Namek, which means the Androids have no knowledge of the Super Saiyan transformation. Goku exploits this blind spot immediately, powering up to Super Saiyan in front of his stunned mechanical opponents.
Super Saiyan Goku tears into Android 19 with devastating efficiency. His punches send the rotund machine skidding across the terrain, and his speed leaves Android 19 unable to mount an effective counterattack. For a few exhilarating minutes, it appears that three years of training have given Goku more than enough power to handle the Android threat.
Without warning, Goku's performance deteriorates. His attacks lose their edge, his breathing grows labored, and he clutches the left side of his chest in visible pain. Gohan recognizes the symptoms instantly from Trunks' warning: the heart virus. The illness was supposed to strike six months earlier, but the timeline has shifted.
Goku never took the medicine because he showed no symptoms during the predicted window. Now the virus is attacking his heart in the middle of a life-or-death battle, draining his Super Saiyan power at an alarming rate. Android 19 seizes the opportunity, absorbing the energy from a weakened Kamehameha and growing stronger while Goku grows weaker with every heartbeat.
Watching Goku collapse is a gut-wrenching reversal. Moments earlier he was the strongest fighter on the field, and now he can barely stay conscious. Android 19 moves in to drain Goku's remaining energy through direct contact, threatening to kill Earth's greatest warrior through absorption rather than combat.
Piccolo attempts to intervene but is blasted aside by Android 20's eye beams. The episode ends with Goku in critical condition and the Androids firmly in control, setting the stage for an unexpected savior to step forward in the next chapter of the Androids Saga.
