Android 20 hides in the cliffs and ambushes Piccolo, draining his energy before Gohan intervenes. Future Trunks returns from his timeline and is alarmed to discover that these Androids do not match the ones he fought in the future.
The Z Fighters spread out across the rocky cliffs in search of Android 20, who has gone into hiding after witnessing Vegeta's total destruction of his partner. Frustrated by the android's deceptive evasion tactics, Vegeta fires a massive Photon Bomber at the mountainside, hoping to level the terrain entirely and flush the coward out into the open. Android 20 seizes the opportunity with calculating precision, emerging from cover just long enough to absorb the full force of Vegeta's own blast through his palm sensors before disappearing back into the rocks. The android is cunning, using the fighters' aggression against them at every available turn.
Choosing a more vulnerable target, Android 20 sneaks up behind Piccolo and latches onto him from the shadows, draining his life force through the energy absorption pads embedded in his palms. Piccolo weakens rapidly, his power plummeting at an alarming rate, until Gohan senses his mentor's fading energy and rushes to the rescue, blasting the android away with a furious ki wave that sends it tumbling across the canyon floor. After receiving a Senzu Bean from Krillin, Piccolo recovers fully and squares off against Android 20 directly. The Namekian proves far stronger in open combat, pummeling the android and even severing one of its hands in a decisive show of force that leaves the energy-stealing machine reeling and desperate.
In the middle of the confrontation, Future Trunks materializes from his time machine, having returned to check on the timeline. His reaction to the scene is immediate confusion. He examines the scattered remains of Android 19 and does not recognize it at all. When he sees Android 20, his alarm deepens: these are not the same androids that terrorized his future world. Something has gone terribly wrong with the timeline, and the changes run deeper than anyone anticipated.
Trunks explains that the androids he knew were a young man and a young woman, not the models present here. The implications are chilling for everyone involved.
Realizing that Piccolo and the other fighters will overpower him, Android 20 makes a calculated decision. He announces that he will retreat to his laboratory to activate Androids 17 and 18, the very models Trunks described. Before anyone can stop him, the android launches a massive energy blast that engulfs the surrounding area, creating a blinding explosion that sends Bulma's nearby aircraft plummeting toward the ground.
The chaos gives Android 20 the opening he needs to vanish into the wilderness, racing toward his hidden lab with the Z Fighters scrambling to recover and give chase.
