Biography and Story Role

Sharpner attends Orange Star High School alongside Gohan, Videl, and Erasa during the early Majin Buu Saga. He presents himself as a confident athlete who initially looks down on Gohan for being a bookish newcomer. Despite this attitude, he genuinely cares about his friends and shows curiosity rather than hostility toward Gohan's mysterious abilities.

Sharpner becomes obsessed with unmasking the Great Saiyaman after suspecting a connection to Gohan. His attempts are consistently foiled by comical bad luck: he misses when diving for the hero's scarf, a bystander blocks his camera shot, and when he finally gets a photo, Piccolo destroys all the cameras in the area. He eventually discovers the truth when Gohan reveals himself during his World Tournament match against Kibito.

Upon seeing Gohan transform into what people call the "Gold Fighter," Sharpner is stunned but ultimately supportive. Erasa convinces him that Gohan simply adopted the Saiyaman persona out of shyness, and both classmates cheer him on during the tournament. His name follows the school stationery naming pattern shared by Erasa (eraser) and other students.
