The Great Saiyaman Arrives

Armed with Bulma's transformation watch, Gohan takes his new hero identity for its first real test. A bus hijacking in Satan City draws Videl into action, and Gohan follows close behind in his disguise. Videl handles the criminals herself with impressive skill, but when the bus careens off a cliff with passengers still aboard, the situation exceeds what any normal fighter can handle. Gohan swoops in at the last moment, catching the bus and setting it down safely before anyone is harmed.

Calling himself "the Great Saiyaman," Gohan strikes an elaborate pose and makes a theatrical exit. The name, the poses, and the overall presentation are deeply embarrassing by any reasonable standard, but Gohan commits to the persona with genuine enthusiasm. It is a far cry from the cold-eyed Super Saiyan 2 who dismantled Cell; this is a teenager having fun with his powers for perhaps the first time in his life.

The heroics continue when Chobi, the baby pterodactyl belonging to the Toto family near Gohan's home, is captured by a circus and put on display. Gohan transforms into Great Saiyaman to mount a rescue, but the situation quickly spirals. The public mistakes him for a kidnapper, and Videl arrives to confront him directly.

Identity Exposed

The confrontation between Videl and Great Saiyaman during the Chobi rescue proves to be the disguise's undoing. In the chaos of Chobi's parents arriving and terrorizing the city, Gohan's true identity is exposed to Videl. The daughter of Mr. Satan is now the only civilian who knows that the Golden-Haired Warrior and the Great Saiyaman are both Gohan, her quiet, bookish classmate.

Rather than turning him in, Videl leverages her knowledge. She proposes a deal: she will keep his secret if he agrees to enter the upcoming 25th World Martial Arts Tournament and teach her to fly. Gohan, cornered by circumstances, accepts. When Vegeta learns that Gohan is entering the tournament, his competitive instincts flare immediately, and he signs up as well.

Goku's Announcement

The episode's final moments deliver the revelation that sets the next saga in motion. Goku's voice reaches his friends and family from Other World with extraordinary news: he has been granted permission to return to Earth for a single day, and he intends to spend it competing in the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament. The excitement among the Z Fighters is instantaneous and electric.

After seven years of absence, the prospect of seeing Goku again transforms the tournament from a simple competition into a reunion. Every major character now has a reason to attend, and the gathering of so many powerful fighters in one place sets the stage for the dramatic escalation that the Majin Buu saga will bring. The lighthearted Great Saiyaman adventures give way to something much larger on the horizon.
