Trunks wins the Junior Division and faces Mr. Satan in a farcical exhibition match. The World Champion fakes a loss to save face, but even Trunks' lightest punch sends him flying. Afterward, Goten and Trunks hatch a plan to sneak into the adult bracket.
With the Junior Division settled, the tournament announces a special exhibition: the junior champion Trunks will face the reigning World Martial Arts Champion, Mr. Satan. For the audience, this is a dream matchup between the strongest boy and the strongest man alive. For Mr. Satan, it is a nightmare. Having watched Goten and Trunks fight from backstage, he recognizes the terrifying power on display and immediately connects it to the horrors he witnessed at the Cell Games.
Desperate to avoid genuine combat with a child who could demolish him, Mr. Satan cycles through excuses, feigned injuries, and stalling tactics. When none of these work, he strikes a deal with Trunks: the boy will hold back his power, and Mr. Satan will take a convincing dive. Trunks agrees, amused by the arrangement. However, even Trunks' most restrained punch sends Mr. Satan rocketing out of the ring and crashing into a wall with enough force to leave an impact crater.
The crowd roars, interpreting the display as proof of Mr. Satan's showmanship. The Champion himself lies in the rubble, grateful the ordeal is over but nursing bruises both physical and psychological.
During the intermission before the adult division begins, Goten and Trunks grow restless. The Junior Division was fun, but both boys want to test themselves against the real competitors. They hatch a plan to knock out one of the adult participants, steal his costume, and enter the bracket in disguise. Their target is an unfortunate fighter named Mighty Mask.
With Goten perched on Trunks' shoulders inside the stolen outfit, the two boys waddle their way through registration as a single, suspiciously tall contestant. The disguise is absurd, but no one questions it closely enough to uncover the deception. Mighty Mask is officially entered in the adult division draw.
The exhibition match and the Mighty Mask scheme represent the last stretch of pure comedy before the World Tournament Saga takes its darker turn. Mr. Satan's desperate attempts to avoid fighting Trunks are a highlight of physical humor, made funnier by the knowledge that this man has built his entire reputation on being the strongest fighter in the world.
Goten and Trunks' decision to infiltrate the adult division will have consequences they cannot foresee, eventually placing them in the ring against Android 18 in one of the saga's most entertaining side battles.
