On Earth, Grand Elder Guru passes his authority to Moori before dying peacefully, ensuring the Namekian Dragon Balls survive. On Namek, the bisected Frieza begs Goku for mercy. Goku shares his energy with the tyrant, but Frieza betrays this kindness with one final attack, forcing Goku to retaliate before Namek explodes.
Grand Elder Guru senses that his second life is nearing its end. Before passing away, he transfers his spiritual authority to Moori, one of his eldest sons, designating him as the new Grand Elder. This critical act of foresight preserves the power of the Namekian Dragon Balls, ensuring they will continue to function even after Guru is gone.
The Namekians and Z Fighters mourn Guru's passing, but the implications of his final decision are profound. The Dragon Balls remain active, which will prove vital in future conflicts. Meanwhile, on the dying remnants of Namek, the aftermath of Frieza's self-inflicted injury plays out.
Frieza, severed in half and hemorrhaging energy, abandons all pride and begs Goku for help. Despite everything the tyrant has done, despite the murder of Krillin and the genocide of countless civilizations, Goku finds himself unable to ignore the plea. He shares a portion of his own ki with Frieza, giving the tyrant enough energy to survive, then turns to leave.
Frieza's gratitude lasts only seconds. Fueled by wounded pride and incapable of accepting defeat gracefully, the tyrant channels his borrowed energy into one last ki blast aimed at Goku's back. The betrayal is the final insult in a long line of cruelties, and this time Goku does not hold back.
Goku retaliates with a devastating Angry Kamehameha that overwhelms Frieza's attack and engulfs the tyrant completely. With that, Goku races toward Frieza's spaceship in a frantic bid to escape the planet before detonation. The ship fails to launch, and Namek explodes in a cataclysmic burst of light, leaving Goku's fate unknown.
This episode closes the Namek chapter with emotional resonance on multiple levels. Guru's death and succession, Goku's mercy and Frieza's betrayal, and the apparent destruction of the hero along with the planet all converge into a gripping finale.
Goku's decision to share energy with a dying Frieza represents the ultimate test of his character. Even transformed by rage into a Super Saiyan, he cannot abandon his core principle of compassion. Frieza's rejection of that mercy serves as the definitive illustration of why the tyrant could never be redeemed.
