Fury on the Lookout

Fueled by rage over his devoured friends, Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks launches himself at Super Buu with everything he has. The intensity of their clash is so extreme that it begins tearing the Lookout apart. Piccolo watches in horror as the sacred platform, home to Earth's Guardian for millennia, crumbles beneath the force of their battle.

Gotenks demonstrates the full extent of his creativity by trapping Buu inside a barrage of Rapid-Fire Super Donuts, binding him into a compressed sphere. Then, in a move that perfectly encapsulates his personality, Gotenks teams up with Piccolo to spike the Buu-ball downward toward the Earth's surface as if playing a game of volleyball. The combined strike sends Buu hurtling with tremendous force.

Gotenks is visibly proud of his performance, basking in what he believes is a decisive series of attacks. But Buu emerges completely unfazed. The volleyball combo, the energy donuts, the relentless barrage of ki blasts that follows, none of it leaves a lasting mark. Gotenks fires round after round of powerful energy bullets, and Buu returns fire with equal ferocity. Just as Gotenks appears ready to deliver a finishing blow, his Super Saiyan 3 transformation abruptly gives out, reverting him to his base fusion state.

Power Without Endurance

This episode exposes the critical flaw of Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks: the form burns through energy at a catastrophic rate. Gotenks possesses staggering offensive power in this state, enough to genuinely threaten Super Buu, but he simply cannot maintain it long enough to finish the job. The transformation's time limit, combined with the Fusion Dance's own time limit, creates a double countdown that works against him.

The volleyball sequence is a highlight of creative combat choreography. It transforms what could be a standard beam struggle into something playful and visually dynamic, reflecting Gotenks' childish approach to even the most serious situations.

The Lookout Falls

The destruction of the Lookout carries symbolic weight beyond the loss of a building. It has been the base of operations for Earth's defenders since the Saiyan Saga, the place where training, planning, and regrouping happened whenever disaster loomed. Watching it disintegrate under the force of this battle signals that the old support structures are gone. There is no fallback position left.

Gotenks' reversion to base form at the worst possible moment sets up an impossible situation. Without Super Saiyan 3, he stands no chance against Super Buu, and the clock on his fusion is already running low.
