Piccolo and Android 17 wage an intense, evenly matched battle across the island chain. Bulma finishes building a remote shutdown device for the androids, but Cell senses the fight and begins racing toward the battlefield to claim his prey.
The battle between Piccolo and Android 17 escalates into one of the most intense confrontations the Earth has witnessed. Piccolo traps Android 17 inside a sphere of energy blasts using his Hellzone Grenade technique, detonating the entire cluster simultaneously in a massive explosion. The blast is enormous, lighting up the sky above the islands, but when the smoke clears, 17 stands with barely a scratch, confirming that the two fighters are operating at nearly identical power levels.
They relocate their fight to another island, trading punches and energy blasts across the rocky shoreline and even taking the battle underwater, where the concussive force of their clashes sends towering geysers erupting through the ocean surface. Neither warrior can gain a decisive edge. The fundamental difference between them is stamina: Piccolo's power will gradually diminish as the fight drags on, while Android 17's perpetual energy core provides an infinite supply that never weakens. Android 17 openly acknowledges this advantage, stating that all he needs to do is wait for Piccolo to tire himself out. The Namekian knows this assessment is correct, which means he must find a way to end the fight decisively before his reserves run dry.
On a nearby island, Krillin receives a call from Bulma. She has finished reverse-engineering the blueprints they recovered from Dr. Gero's lab and has constructed a remote control device capable of shutting down the androids. She is already en route to deliver it. The news gives the fighters a flicker of hope, though reaching 18 in the middle of the current battle will be no easy task.
Krillin privately struggles with the implications. Using the remote on Android 18 means deactivating someone who, despite being an android, showed him unexpected kindness. The memory of her kiss lingers in his thoughts.
Far from the island battleground, Cell senses the enormous power readings from Piccolo and Android 17's clash. He has been absorbing human populations across the countryside, and his strength has grown considerably since the encounter in Gingertown. With cold calculation, Cell determines that his power now exceeds both combatants and begins flying toward the islands at top speed.
On the Lookout, Goku and Gohan continue their vigil, waiting for Vegeta and Future Trunks to emerge. The Hyperbolic Time Chamber door remains sealed. Time is running out on every front.
