A Dinosaur's Plea

When Gohan discovers that Chobi, the young child of Toto the pterodactyl, has been captured and placed on display by a travelling circus, he cannot stand by and watch. Rushing to free the baby dinosaur as Great Saiyaman, Gohan inadvertently finds himself painted as a criminal by the media and local authorities. The situation escalates when Chobi's frantic parents descend upon Satan City in search of their offspring, causing widespread panic.

Videl is dispatched to handle the crisis and immediately zeroes in on Great Saiyaman as the culprit. In the ensuing chaos, Gohan manages to reunite Chobi with Toto and calm the situation, but his helmet is damaged in the process. This slip is all Videl needs. She gets a clear look at the face beneath the visor and confirms what she has long suspected: Gohan Son and Great Saiyaman are the same person.

Rather than exposing him publicly, Videl takes a calculated approach. She confronts Gohan privately, holding his secret over him as leverage for her own purposes.

Blackmail and a Tournament

Videl's demand is straightforward: Gohan must enter the upcoming 25th World Martial Arts Tournament, or she will reveal his identity to the entire school. Having no real choice in the matter, Gohan agrees. Word of the tournament quickly spreads among the Z Fighters, and the prospect of competition stirs excitement in warriors who have spent years without a worthy challenge.

The most surprising development comes from beyond the realm of the living. Goku, still training in the Other World, contacts his friends through King Kai and announces that he will return to Earth for a single day to participate. The promise of Goku's return electrifies the group and transforms the tournament from a casual event into something far more significant.

Shifting Gears

This episode marks a critical turning point for the Buu Saga as a whole. Videl's discovery of Gohan's secret identity removes the comedic tension of the Great Saiyaman storyline and replaces it with the competitive stakes of the World Tournament arc. The blackmail scenario, while played for humor, also reveals Videl's resourcefulness and determination.

Goku's announcement from the Other World serves as the narrative hook that draws every major character toward the tournament grounds, setting up the reunions and confrontations that will drive the saga forward through its darkest chapters.
